Z-Fold Birthday…

Do you follow other stamper’s blogs?  I love to jump down that rabbit hole with a cup of coffee and browse what other people are creating.  Sometimes when I see an interesting card, I’ll sketch the layout, note the person’s name or blog and then recreate their layout when my mind goes blank.

Today’s post is one of those.  This card sketch came from Francis Martin’s blog and I just thought it would be fun to create it in my own style and color.  I love the way it came together…

Isn’t that a clever layout…a Z-Fold card with a band that Z-Folds the opposite direction.  Here is what it looks like when closed…

I posted another Z-Fold card earlier this week here.  They are so simple to make and offer a base card that can be decorated in many ways.  Here are the Stuff ‘N Digits just in case you want to give this card layout a try…

  • Paper:  Very Vanilla, Hello Honey, Cajun Craze, Pool Party, Basic Black and Mossy Meadow cardstock plus Botanical Blooms DSP
  • Ink:  Basic Black
  • Stamps:  Suite Sayings and Rose Wonder (sentiments)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Botanical Builder Framelits Dies and Rose Garden Thinlets.

  • The Very Vanilla base card is 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored and folded at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″
  • The two Hello Honey panels art 2 5/8″ x 4 1/8″ attached to card base with adhesive
  • The two DSP panels are 2 1/2″ x 4″ attached over Hello Honey panels with adhesive
  • The Very Vanilla panel for the inside sentiment is 2″ x 3 1/2″ stamped with Basic Black and attached to inside panel with adhesive
  • The Hello Honey band is 1″ x 11″ scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″.  Attach band to base card with adhesive to the front panel, fold the 5 1/2″ score out and the 2 3/4″ score in and attach to base card with adhesive
  • Stamp Happy Birthday is Basic Black on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut with framelit from Rose Garden Thinlets.  Attach to card with dimensionals.
  • Cut out three different colors flowers with contrasting flowers and centers.  Layer with dimensionals and glue dots.  Add cut out leaves in Mossy Meadow on card base first and then flowers one on front panel, one at 5 1/2″ score on band and one over sentiment at back of card base.

This is a fun and different card…you’ve got to try it in any colors that match your DSP on hand.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Just one more day with my daughter before she starts her return to South Korea.  We plan to make the most of the day.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Hope you are inky and HaPpY too!

Love You More Than Chocolate…

To me Spring is all about flowers.  Any kind of flower is good with me.

Most of my flowers come back each year, but there are pots and window boxes to plant.

Saturday I went to the nursery and came home to plant thirteen pots and two window boxes!

Before now it has just been too cool and rainy…finally I think Spring has arrived.

Today’s card is all about flowers too plus a little fancy fold for a little surprise…

and here’s a shot of the inside of this Z Fold card…

Just a little something different.  Would you like to know how to make this one?  Here you go…

Hello Sunshine…

I’m so ready for spring nd my wishing just may come true tomorrow…from the 20’s to the 60’s.  Unbelievable.  But you will hear no complaining here.

In celebration of what I know is coming, here is a pretty spring flower card with a little twist for you…

Bright.  Springy.  And look inside…

Aha…a little surprise.  This Z-fold card is interactive and pretty dang easy to make.  Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Paper:  Daffodil Delight, Whisper White cardstock
  • Ink:  Memento Black, Strawberry Slush, Blushing Bride, Coastal Cabana, Pool Party, Hello Honey and Daffodil Delight
  • Stamps:  Stippled Rose and Project Life So You (sentiment)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  5/8″ Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon, Ovals Framelits, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Oval Punch and Basic Pearls

  • The Daffodil Delight base card is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • The Whisper White layer is 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, Embossed with Perfect Polka Dot EF
  • I used the third from center oval from the framelits to make the opening on this layer and the card front.  I attached the Whisper White layer to the card and cut both at the same time.
  • The layer inside the card is 5″ x 6″, scored with the 6″ side up on your scoring tool at 2″ and 4″.
  • To make the Daffodil Delight “frame” for the front of the card, use two framelits at the same time.  Attach to card front with Tombow.
  • Stamp the three stippled roses on Whisper White and “fussy” cut.  Stamp three leaf pairs and cut them out too.
  • Attach with glue dots the Daffodil Delight ribbon to the Whisper White oval.  Attach the Daffodil Delight rose to this oval with Tombow.
  • Mountain and Valley fold the inside piece.
  • Stamp the rose bud to the inside piece before attaching with adhesive to the back panel.
  • Close the card front and attach Whisper White oval with attached rose to inside panel.  Attach a three inch piece of ribbon to the left side.
  • Stamp sentiment in Memento Black on Daffodil Delight and punch with Oval Punch.  Add three Basic Pearls and adhere with dimensionals to card front.
  • Working from the front of the card, attach two other roses and leaves.
  • This card doesn’t open like some others that open all the way because the roses keep it from doing that, but it does open.  Hold the ribbon and pull the back of the card.
  • The envelope was lined and stamped too.

This card should brighten anyone’s day no matter what time of year, but especially now as spring is just around the corner.

Don’t forget to change your clocks tomorrow night to spring forward.  Most states will be changing to Daylight Savings Time…Yay!

Here is your “B-ism” for today…

Add Basic Pearls to rose centers and to sentiment oval.
