Holiday Re-Do…

imageThe “Littles” just left this morning and I miss them already (their mom and dad, too, of course!).  While they were here they talked about “re-do”…which in their world means a change of attitude or action when mom’s not happy.

Well, my post today is a re-do of the Season to Season Wreath Kit…

I love this kit (and it’s on sale right now) not only because you can use it for three seasons, but because you can make it into anything you want.

In my case I wanted it to coordinate with the pencil Christmas tree I made last year with that beautiful blue/green designer series paper.

Here are a couple of shots of the tree…

Hoarding DSP might be a problem for some…not me!

Sure hope your Thanksgiving was filled with family, friends and good times!

Vintage Leaves Wreath Video…

Remember last week the post with this photo?

This was a close up of the Vintage Leaves fall wreath showing the pine cones and Dazzling Diamonds Newsprint balls.

Well, today the video has been made and uploaded for you.  You can see the video here.

Enjoy!…and send me questions if you have them through comments.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

It might work…

Are you inky and HaPpY?

Season to Season…

Last week the night before leaving for a week long retreat with “the littles”…this arrived… and I had to make it right then.  I mean there was still packing to do.  But noooooo, I turned off the iron and turned on the hot glue gun.

And this happened.

This wreath was presented at Convention and I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.  It comes with three different ribbons, one for Halloween, one for  Thanksgiving (burlap) and a Cherry Cobbler ribbon for Christmas.  Pieces to make a banner for each season are also included.

It took me an hour with a hot glue gun to finish this cutie off.  I’m thinking kit class!  What a great gift this would make too.  It’s on page 6 of the Holiday Catalog (#139645. $27.00) Love it!

Today is an absolutely amazing day at my house for my little family.  My daughter who is stationed in South Korea with her hubby had been diagnosed with stage II thyroid cancer about six weeks ago.  She had surgery last night to remove the tumor, her thyroid and some soft tissue, but her lymph nodes were clear!  There will be one radiation treatment (a pill) in three weeks and she will stay in isolation for three days.  What a relief after weeks of tests for her.  It’s hard being half a world away…

So, like I said, today is an amazing day…hope yours is too!

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Live each day to the fullest…

Get yourself inky…Be HaPpY!

Sip, Curl, Pin…Repeat!

In my little community we have a women’s book club organized ten years ago.  Although we have added members over the years, there are a few of us who have been together from the beginning.  We have read and discussed well over 100 books together.

But in the month of December we don’t read, we plan a fun night out together.  Back at convention the thought occurred to me to host a Stampin’ Up! crafting event just for my book club.  And last night that thought became a reality.  Here is a pic of the room all set up for twelve crafters…

That’s twelve packages of designer’s series paper cut in 3/4″ x 6″ strips, 36 glimmer stars cut and scored and 12 bows.  There’s no way I could have done all this and kept up with my daily posts and monthly classes…so look who helped cut out stars…

Is that not the sweetest?  He is my biggest supporter always encouraging me to “go for it” and there to help me.  <3!

Once everyone got here (they all brought food and I provided the liquids) we ate and jabbered for an hour before we got down to business.  Here is a shot of the beginning of the evening done with Project Life on my IPhone!…

See how everyone’s foam wreath is empty and then after just a short while they were all filling up!  And the evening progressed…

Lots of fun conversation and believe it or not…no paper cuts!  I was prepared with bandaids.  We sipped, curled and pinned LOTS and then they were done…

Everyone (even those who said they’ve never made anything) were pleased with their creations.  This is why I love my job!  See those smiles…sooooo worth it!

Maybe next time you can join us!

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

I’m inky today…and HaPpY!

Curly Christmas Wreath…

Finally!  Here’s a video on how to make this curly wreath.  It’s been forever since I’ve been able to get a video recorded.  I hope you will like this one! Here’s a shot of the wreath close up and hanging… IMG_1598 and a little up close shot…

Now if you like it, here’s a video on how to make it…enjoy!

Door Dressing…

So yesterday I showed you this picture…

This is a whole pack of All Is Calm Designer Series Paper cut in 1″ x 6″ strips.  Then curled with a bone folder.  Now I have to warn you to be sure an wear either a latex glove on your right hand if you’re right handed to prevent paper cuts.  Since I curled these while riding in the car home from Florida my thumb and hand have several paper cuts.  But here is the results…

Yes!  Because the color combo of blue and green is a favorite of mine, I’m in love with this DSP.  I know the ribbon isn’t SU! but I needed a wider ribbon.  Love the glitter three-dimensional stars, too.

This wreath will be a class I’m giving for my book club in December.  The cost is $28 and includes everything you need to make this 13″ wreath.  I may also do a class for my regular customers if there is enough interest.

For the wreath here are the supplies you will need:

  • 13″ styrofoam wreath
  • One package All Is Calm DSP
  • One half sheet Silver Glimmer Paper
  • Silver ribbon of your choice
  • Approximately 250 straight pins

Once you have all your paper cut into 1″ by 6″ strips and curled, it’s just a pinning project.  The stars are scored to give the 3-dimensional look (I plan a short video on this).  Add the bow and you are done.  There is no way to mess this up.  Don’t over think placement, you have more than enough curls.  I actually didn’t use all mine.

Here’s some inspiration for some other decorations made with All Is Calm DSP…

Can you stand it?  Can’t you just see a pretty white tree decorated with all these?  I’m working on it…

Here is your “B-ism” for today…”It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

Hope you are having a great day and are feeling inspired by something you’ve seen today.

I’m definitely inky…and very Happy!

Sequins ‘N Bows…

Today is the day!  The Holiday Catalog is live and you can shop to your heart’s content.  This is by far the best Holiday Catalog Stampin’ Up! has released.  Take a virtual stroll through and you will see what I mean… 2014-hoiday-183-arrow

To shop just click on the catalog cover to the right and you’ll be able to look through each page.  I’d love to hear your favorite “must have’s”… It has been another busy day in the studio making samples and planning for four upcoming classes next week.  There is another event in my very near future that is taking a lot of my creative energy, too…but more about that later.

Today’s card uses the Wondrous Wreath framelits and NO stamps and was fun to put together.  Here is the card…

Do you think the Woodgrain Embossing Folder gives this card front a door “look”?  That was my intention.  I could have also used the Woodgrain background stamp, but opted for the texture of the embossing folder.  And the envelope flap?  Would you like the steps to put this card together?  Here are the Stuff ‘N Digits for you… Stuff:

  • Paper:  Whisper White, Pool Party and Brushed Silver cardstock plus Silver Glimmer paper
  • Ink:  Pool Party (sentiment inside)
  • Stamps:  None!
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Wondrous Wreath Framelits, Frosted Sequins, 2013-2015 In Color Sequins Assortment, Coastal Cabana Blendability Pens

  • Base Whisper White cardstock is 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • First layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ embossed
  • Panels measure (2) @ 1 1/2″ x 2″ and (2) @ 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ embossed
  • Adhere the larger embossed panel to the front of the card and then the four door panels with dimensionals
  • Cut out wreath base in the Brushed Silver cardstock and decorate with sequins and snowflakes using Tomboy Glue
  • Cut out the bow in Silver Glimmer and use the Coastal Cabana Blendability Pens to color.  Attach with dimensionals,

Hope you enjoyed our little creative session today and you picked up something that inspires you to create.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…”When something goes wrong in your life, just yell “Plot Twist” and move on!”

That quote is a great one.  I usually say “U Turn” instead of “Plot Twist” but it’s pretty much the same thing.  My grown son says “Wild Card”.

If you are reading this blog and thinking you would like to be a part of this creative journey with Stampin’ Up!, drop me a comment and I will help you any way I can.  I’d love to tell you all about this company and how much I love working with and for them.  It might be just for you…

Hope you are all inky like me…and HaPpY!

Halloween Bling…

Bubble, bubble toil and trouble…let’s get ready for a spooky Halloween with the new Happy Halloween Wreath Kit.  I ordered two for my double doors and finished both of them in no time.  This is a fabulous kit!  Look at this beaded spider… image This spider took less than 30 minutes to make and I have never beaded anything.  Here’s a photo of the finished wreath…image

Isn’t that gorgeous.  In person it is all sparkly and fluffy and the glittered spider web is the perfect touch.  This is a great kit well worth the price.

I will be offering two classes on Monday, September 15th…one at 11 a.m. And one at 6:30 p.m. Space is limited to eight.  The wreaths will be ordered the first day they are available which is August 28th.  All reservations and payments must be in by that date. So don’t dawdle…get your reservation in before they close.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…”You can’t repeat the same action and expect a different result.”

I’m not too inky from making the wreath…but I’m sure happy with the results!

Sweet Baby Siena…

One of the most wonderful things about being a Stampin’ Up! Demo is the relationships you develop with people you create with.  In my classes I have some of the most wonderful people…truly a delight to be in their company.  Last week one of my stamping friends had a very special, much anticipated baby girl, Siena Marie.  Here’s her pic…

I can just hear the collective “awwwww…”  Isn’t she gorgeous?  Well, I couldn’t let the occasion pass without some really girly SU! something.  Here’s one of the things I took to her house…

It’s hanging on my studio door here, but it’s now at Baby Siena’s house.  Using the Banners Framelits (largest) and the polka dot stencil I created the background for the Spiral Die Roses and leftover alphabet letters from a Paper Pumpkin came in real handy.  A little paper lace, pink ribbon tied with Linen Thread and pretty white satin ribbon and it all came together and looked so sweet.  This was a lot of fun to make.  I love when a project in my mind  just comes together like this one did.

Do you have special occasions coming up in your circle of friends and family?  Stampin’ Up! has so many kits, embellishments and product to help you create a one-of-a-kind gift or decoration to celebrate.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…”Think BIG, believe BIG, act BIG and the results will be BIG!”

Last night I scurried to book club after a busy class and brunch meeting in the afternoon to find my hands were embarrassingly inky…but I was HaPpY!

Red, White & Blue…Oh My!

Do you receive the monthly Paper Pumpkin Kit?  I sure hope so.  Here’s what I made with mine this month…

The items in the kit were really cute, but I needed a wreath for July 4th.  And you know what?  I have enough pinwheels left to make a second wreath.  I plan to take that wreath to a party in the neighborhood and giving it to the hostess.  If you aren’t receiving the monthly Paper Pumpkin kits, you are really missing out.  It’s as easy as clicking on the Paper Pumpkin logo in the right column of my blog home page and sign up.  I promise you won’t be disappointed and you can cancel at any time.  I’ve been stamping and crafting for a lot of years, but I get just as excited to receive that little red box each month as a newbie.

Thanks for stopping by to see what was going on in the studio today.  I hope you come back often and always find something to inspire you.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…”Big girl panties pulled up, sparkle in my eye and a smile on my face.  Yep, I’m ready for the day…bring it on!”

Get Inky…Be HaPpY!
