Shut the Door!

The new At Home With You stamp set caught me eye at first look.  Why?  I love doors…of all kinds.  When w travel, I always come home with pictures of doors and sometimes even paint them.  Don’t ask me why…it happens!

So this set intrigued me and I was excited to spend a whole day playing with all the different looks you can create with it.  It has everything to take you through each season and then some.

Here’s my first try…

I made the door red because my front door is red…of course it is!

You can cut the framelit so the front door opens and offers a message, but you don’t have to.

You can see how this one layers up and check out the brick embossing…

Wouldn’t this card be fun to send to someone new in the neighborhood?

I’ll have several different doors to show you in the next days, but here are the Stuff ‘N Digits for this one…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Crumb Cake, Thick Whisper White Cardstock, plus Wood Texture Designer Series Paper Stack
  • Ink:  Archival Basic Black, Real Red, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake
  • Stamps:  At Home With You
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  At Home Framelits Dies, Brick Wall Embossing Folder

Digits

  • The 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ Crumb Cake base card was scored, folded and burnished at 4-1/4″
  • The Wood Texture DSP layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″.  Run this piece through Big Shot using the Brick Wall EF then attach to card front with SNAIL
  • The darker Wood Texture DSP was cut 4-1/8″ x 1″ and attached at bottom of card front with SNAIL
  • On scrap Thick Whisper White CS stamp two doors, a wreath, one sign and two flower pots in Archival Basic Black.  Cut out with matching framelits.  Stamp “congrats” on sign.
  • The door was “painted” with Real Red reinker and a small round brush (you could use Aqua Painter) using water and reinker in stamp pad lid.  The door frame was “painted” with Crumb Cake the same way.  Cut this door with extra framelit so the door will open.  Cut door windows with framelit.
  • On the second door frame stamp the sentiment in Archival Basic Black.  Attach the “painted” door over the sentiment piece with SNAIL.  Add door to card front with dimensionals.
  • Color wreath and two flower pots with Real Red, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight markers.  Add wreath to door with dimensionals.  Add flower pot on floor to right of door.
  • Stamp door mat on Crumb Cake with Archival Basic Black, cut out with framelit.  I “painted” around the edges with the paint brush and some Crumb Cake reinker.  Add to card front with multipurpose glue or SNAIL.
  • Stamp sign string on door front under wreath.  Add “congrats” sign with dimensionals.
  • Inside the Thick Whisper White layer is 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″.  Color second flower pot with markers.  Before attaching to bottom right corner with dimensionals, add a small base of Crumb Cake with brush or marker to sit the pot on.  Add sentiment in Archival Basic Black at top center.  Add layer to inside card with SNAIL

I have loved working with this stamp set.  Of course, being a “door” person makes it perfect for me.  You’ll be seeing a couple of seasonal doors in the next couple of days…even Christmas!

Hope your “hump” day is special…

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

New Neighbor…

After watching construction of the new house next door since January…it’s finally finished and we are gaining a new neighbor!

We have met a couple of times and talked generally, but when I learned her husband died this summer while they were on vacation, I knew she might need our help…especially “Sweetums”.

Me?  I made her a welcome card…

See her faithful companion, Rocky’s, dog dish and bone?  Then when you open the front door…

This Sweet Home bundle is going to come in very handy in a lot of ways…I’m just sayin’.

So today I’m posting early because “sweetums” and I are going on a boat ride with friends to a great restaurant on the river about an hour away and have a nice evening ride back.  We sold our boat a couple of years ago so we are always eager to accept invitations from our boating friends to be on the water again.  Should be lots of fun.

So here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you on the “welcome” card for Julie…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Real Red, Early Espresso and Crushed Curry Cardstock
  • Ink:  Soft Sky, Pear Pizazz, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, Real Red
  • Stamps:  Thoughtful Branches (trees), Sweet Home
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Home Sweet Home Thinlets, Real Red Candy Dot, Sequins

Julie and Rocky will be moving in Labor Day weekend…I think we will be great friends.

Hope your weekend is going great.  Remember, if you need any of these products you can shop from me right here on my blog by clicking on the “Shop Now” star to the right.  Please don’t shop as a guest as this will block me from sending you a personal thank you.  I had several orders last week and a few signed in as a guest with no name…frustrating as I REALLY appreciate all my customers and love sending them a personal thank you…

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Welcome Neighbor…

The welcoming committee in my little community delivers a basket including a bottle of wine.  Since I serve on this committee and help deliver the packets, I try to make something that hopefully will show my passion for papercrafting and instigate a conversation.  We will be delivering these this week…

New Neighbor Welcome…

In the my little community here we occasionally get new neighbors and I met Brenda soon after she moved in because she has a dachshund puppy and he loves my Zoe Jack Russell.  Walking by one day the dogs forced us to meet.  So today I mailed her this little welcome card to say I’m glad you’re here from Indiana and I  hope we become good friends…

This is a 3 1/2″ x 5″ notecard sized card from the Happenings Simply Created Kit.  It’s simple but I love the way it turned out.  I love any excuse to let people know what I do.

How do you let people know you are a “Creative Coach” in papercrafting?  During convention one idea was to carry “thank you”, “you are awesome” type cards with you and hand them out when you receive good service or just to brighten someone’s day.  You don’t always know how it is received, but it sure makes you feel good to share!

This card is pretty straight forward, but here are the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff:

  • Paper:  Notecards from Happenings Simply Created Kit, Real Red and Whisper White cardstock.  The Grey stripped paper is from the kit also.
  • Ink:  Real Red, Pear Pizazz and Lost Lagoon
  • Stamps:  Life’s Adventure
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Inside I have two little hearts punched out with the Itty Bitty Heart Stamp

Digits:

  • The Real Red layer is 2 3/4″ x 4 1/4″
  • The Whisper White layer is 2 5/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • Color the stamp with the three markers…be sure the “huff” the stamp well before stamping
  • Attach the hearts inside.  Done!

Hope you gained some inspiration from stopping by today.  Tomorrow I have another card using this same stamp set.  If you order from me and spend at least $150, you could get this stamp set free!  It’s one of the most versatile sets in the catalog.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…”If showing up in a robe and tiara with a box of wine is wrong, then maybe I don’t fully comprehend how Casual Friday actually works.”

I’m inky today…and oh so HaPpY!
