Sweet Soiree…

This suite of products has every possible embellishment, and on this card I used several…did I over do it?  There’s no “over doing” when it comes to embellishments!  The more the merrier…

Oh shoot!  I forgot the sequins…(kidding)

There are several layers in this background…maybe a Sunday afternoon video?

Gold is back in the fashion world and in stamping too!

And a peek inside.

Here is the Stuff ‘N Digits for this card…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Pool Party and Gold Foil Cardstock plus Vellum and Watercolor paper
  • Ink:  Archival Basic Black and Tranquil Tide plus VersaMark
  • Stamps:  Cake Soiree
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  1/8″ Gold Ribbon, Linen Thread, Sweet Cake Framelits Dies, Gold Embossing Powder, Sweet Soiree Decorative Masks, sponge dauber

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score, fold and burnish at 4-1/4″.
  • The Gold Foil layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ attached with multipurpose glue.
  • The watercolor layer is 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″.  With Tranquil Tide and Pool Party Ink Pad, cover the surface of a “F” Acrylic Block.  Spritz with water and “stamp” the watercolor paper.  Leave in place a few seconds to give the paper time to absorb the color.  Lift straight up.  Gorgeous! Right?
  • Using the rose stencil from the Sweet Soiree Decorative Masks and a sponge dauber with Tranquil Tide ink add three roses to the lower right corner.  Make the middle rose full size and tuck the other two behind the corner rose.
  • Add splats of VersaMark Ink (I used the “splat” stamp from Gorgeous Grunge set), sprinkle with Gold Embossing Powder and heat.  Add rose leaves with VersaMark ink, sprinkle and heat.
  • Isn’t that a beautiful three-layer background?
  • Cut several leaves in Pool Party, Vellum, and Gold Foil.  Cut two Gold Foil and one Pool Party rose.  If you add the Self-Adhesive paper to the back of what you are cutting out, all these pieces can be peeled and laid down in a snap.
  • Cut tag from Thick Whisper White CS.  Add roses in Tranquil Tide and sentiment in Archival Basic Black.  Add a small piece of Gold Foil behind the bottom portion of the tag.  Tie several loops of 1/8″ Gold Ribbon with Linen Thread and add to top of tag with glue dots.  Add tag to card front with dimensionals at top left corner.
  • Inside the Thick Whisper White layer is 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″.  The Gold Foil is 1/4″ x 4-1/4″ attached with multipurpose glue.  The two roses were added by using Self Adhesive paper on back of cardstock before cutting out the images.
  • As you can see in the first photo, the envelope was stamped with the flower from the Lots of Happy Card Kit and colored with Blend Pens.  Just a little something to start the party on the envelope!

There is a lot going on with this card and I believe it works because it is basically monochromatic.  If there were several strong colors used, it just wouldn’t work a well.  I hope to do a Sunday afternoon “live” video on this background…maybe this week.  You can always check my facebook page, Rambling Rose Studio, for helpful short videos.

Heartfelt Thanks…

The result from last week’s birthday surprises is a stack of thank you cards….fun to make and written with lots of gratitude and love.

I hadn’t planned on making two colors, but a phone call distracted me and the embossing paste dried.  So I made a new batch and started over.

I love the way some of the Calypso Coral hung out on my handmade stencil and transferred with the green.

I thought the contrasting colors would really pop…and they do!

Have you tried the Embossing Paste yet?  It is simple to use and easy to clean up with a little beforehand prep.  If you are using a reuseable stencil, have a small tray of water handy to drop it in.  You can also drop the Palette Knife in there too when you’re finished.

So let’s do this…

Here are the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  I used SU! 3-1/2″ x 5″ Whisper White Notecards, plus Old Olive and Pool Party Cardstock
  • Ink:  Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise, Calypso Coral and Lemon Lime Twist
  • Stamps:  Oh So Eclectic
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Embossing Paste, Palette Knife, Stencil, Seasonal Layers Framelits.   If you want to use the framelit to make your own stencil you’ll need the Eclectic Layers Thinlits and watercolor paper.  Thick Whisper White CS might work.

Digits

  • The Old Olive layer is 2-7/8″ x 4-3/8″ attached with SNAIL to Whisper White notecard.
  • The Thick Whisper White layer is 2-3/8″ x 4-1/4″.  With your water tray ready, mix a small amount of Embossing Paste with your choice of reinker.  Secure stencil in place over this layer.  Apply paste over stencil like icing a cake using the palette knife.  Scrape away any extra paste.  Drop stencil and palette knife in water tray.
  • Remove stencil and let dry.  This happens quickly.
  • On scrap Thick Whisper White stamp flower in Pool Party and over stamp with line art in Tempting Turquoise or whatever color choices you have made.  Cut out with coordinating framelit.
  • Cut one stem from Seasonal Layers and one set of leaves from Eclectic Layers in Old Olive.  Add to card front with dots of multipurpose glue and weight it down with a block to dry.  You will need to trim “stem” to fit your card and flower.
  • Add flower with dimensionals.  Stamp sentiment on scrap Thick Whisper White in Tempting Turquoise and trim to 1/2″ x 1-1/2″.  Tag one end.  Add a Pool Party layer 5/8″ x 1-5/8″.  Tag one end.  Add to card front with dimensionals.
  • Then add your own sweet personal thank you…

How your Friday is going super!

Soft Sayings…

While preparing for an Open House and working on samples for the event, The Soft Sayings Card Kit was my next project.  My goal was to finish one card of each size and show how this set has everything you need…and I mean everything!  You can even reorder just the refill for much less than the original cost…I was all in!

Then as I was putting together the different cards, I ran into a side track with this one …

While I love this card, the laser cut overlay sent me into a spin.  Do you see what I see?  Well, probably not because my mind is kinetic energy jumping in all directions at once.

What I saw was a stencil.  So leaving my project on one table, I moved to another to make this…

This is exactly what I was seeing in my mind.  All soft colors for spring…

Glamour close up.

And a peek inside using just a portion of the “stencil”.

Over time I’ve learned to pay attention to those sidetracks and follow them to the end.  In most cases the results are just as envisioned.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for this one…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Powder Pink, Thick Whisper White and Old Olive Cardstock, plus water color paper.
  • Ink:  Powder Pink, Wisteria Wonder, Soft Sky and Old Olive, but Archival Basic Black
  • Stamps:  Soft Sayings stamping kit
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Stencil Brush or Sponge (I used brush), Powder Pink 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon

Digits

  • The Powder Pink base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored, folded and burnished at 5-1/2″
  • The Old Olive layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ attached to card front with SNAIL
  • The water color paper layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″.  I used low tack Artist Tape to attach the stencil to the water color paper.  Using a stencil brush apply color to each flower then the Old Olive to the spaces and leaves in between.  The stencil holds a border naturally.  Once the stenciling is done, add the sentiment (included in the Soft Sayings Kit) in Archival Basic Black.  Attach this layer over the Old Olive layer with SNAIL
  • Inside the Old Olive layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ attached to the card with SNAIL.
  • The Thick Whisper White layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Stencil a portion  of the flowers on the bottom of this layer then attach over Old Olive layer with SNAIL.
  • The envelope was also stenciled using this same method to coordinate with the card front.

Love how this card turned out so soft and sweet.  Guess I ruined this laser piece for one of the kit cards, huh?  Nope.  Tomorrow I’ll show how this stencil morphed into a card all its own…

Lots of planning and creating going on in the studio getting ready for an Open House Catalog Party…lots of samples, door prizes, and refreshments. You can also pick up your new catalog with a little gift and there will me “Take ‘N Makes” for everyone with detailed directions to complete the projects.

Lots to do…hope I don’t get sidetracked again…

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

oh yeah.
