Snowy Night…

Created my own snowy night scene…so peaceful.  And the nicest place to be on a night like this?  In front of a cozy fire with your honey, some hot apple cider and a good favorite movie.

How shimery is that?

How lucky was I to catch the glimmer from the Wink of Stella and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter paper…

And a peek inside…

The foundation for this card is watercolor paper…it all starts there.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Tranquil Tide Cardstock
  • Ink:  Archival Basic Black.  I used watercolors but you could substitute reinker in Pacific Point, Pool Party and Rich Razzleberry.
  • Stamps:  Quilted Christmas (sentiment)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Card Front Builder Framelits, 1-1/2″ Circle Punch, Aqua Painter, White Paint Pen or Art Masking Liquid to make snow and Clear Wink of Stella. If you have watercolors, here are the sky colors I used Ultramarine Blue, Ultramarine Violet and Phthalo Green plus Pool Party 1/4″ Glimmer Ribbon

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″.  Score at 5-1/2″, fold and burnish with bone folder.
  • The Tranquil Tide layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ attached with SNAIL.
  • The watercolor paper layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Add low tack tape around watercolor paper to create a border.    If you are using a masking liquid apply now.  With your Aqua Painter wet just where you want the sky color to go.  Add your colors in stripes across horizontally and let the watercolor paper do the work for you.  Let the paper dry naturally.  When dry add your snow with white paint pen if you didn’t using masking liquid.
  • Add Clear Wink of Stella to the sky area.
  • Cut a 1-1/2″ circle from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  Using the tree framelit cut the top of two trees from this circle.
  • Cut three trees using framelit from Tranquil Tide CS.  Cut just the tops of the tree trees from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.
  • Stamp sentiment at lower left corner in Archival Basic Black.  Remove masking liquid if you used it.
  • Attach “moon” with multipurpose glue to right side.  Add trees inside circle with multipurpose glue.
  • Add Glimmer tree tops to left snow bank.
  • Add ribbon to top attaching behind with SNAIL.
  • Add watercolor layer to card front with multipurpose glue and weight it down.
  • Inside the Tranquil Tide layer is 4-3/8″ x 3-3/8″ attached with SNAIL.
  • The Thick Whisper White layer is 4-1/4″ x 3-1/4″.  Stamp sentiment in Archival Basic Black, then attach with SNAIL
  • Add tree in lower right corner with SNAIL.

I love this card…I love the colors and the atmosphere created.  It really is peaceful!

The posts of this week are ready and I can’t wait to share them with you, so I hope you will stop by each day to take a look.

Peaceful Snow…

Yesterday was spent in studio and it was the most incredible experience…all by myself…

Generally on Sundays when I do not post, the day is spent creating posts for the coming week.  During the week I sketch ideas as they come to me and recreate my thoughts Sunday.  Yesterday the projects were exciting to create and I’m in love with what I’ll show you this week.  Not because I made them, but they turned out even better than I had imagined!  Magic…

Here’s what my planner looks like…

sketch

The last one there is the post for today.  It doesn’t look like much sketched.

In Tennessee we do not get snow that often…but when we do, I love to get out for a walk early and enjoy the peaceful quiet created by a snowfall…

snowytrees1

and here’s a peek inside…

snowytrees

And even though its not shown, the envelope was stamped with the tree several times without reinking and the flap was embossed with the Gently Falling Embossing Folder.

You might notice in the sketch there is no ribbon or bow…honestly, I smudged some of that dang black ink and it WILL NOT sand off.  So the silver 5/8″ ribbon was added and that “oopsie” turned into a golden design opportunity.  It happens…

Here are the Stuff ‘N Digits for you to create your own soft, quiet snow scene…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White and Dapper Denim Cardstock, plus Silver Foil and watercolor paper
  • Ink:  Dapper Denim, Basic Black, White Craft Ink and VersaMark
  • Stamps:  Thoughtful Branches, Greetings of the Season (sentiment, retired)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  White Embossing Powder, Silver Embossing Powder, 5/8″ Silver Satin Ribbon, Linen Thread, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and Gently Falling Embossing Folder

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″
  • The Silver Foil layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ attached to card front with Multipurpose Glue
  • The Whisper White top layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Stamp sentiment in VersaMark, sprinkle with Silver EP and heat.  Run through Big Shot with Gently Falling EF.  Attach a piece of Silver 5/8″ ribbon around bottom and attach to back with SNAIL.  Make double loops, tie in center with Linen Thread.  Tie to card front with Linen Thread and use Glue Dots.
  • The vertical Silver Foil layer is 1-3/4″ x 4-1/8″.  Attach to card front with adhesive strips or dimensionals.
  • The watercolor paper layer is 1-5/8″ x 4″.  Punch a 1-1/4″ circle from post it note and place where tree top will cover most of the moon.  Sponge with Dapper Denim.  I purposely tried to keep the color lighter around the moon edges for a “glow” effect.  Remove mask and stamp tree in Basic Black.  Don’t do like I did and touch it before it dries!  Stamp a second tree in Craft White Ink a little left of the first tree and snow with same ink.  I sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter then heated.  Hard to show that in the photo.  The base at tree is Dapper Denim.  Mount this layer to the vertical Silver Foil layer with Multipurpose Glue.
  • Inside there is a layer of Dapper Denim 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ with a Whisper White layer 3″ x 4″.  The tree is stamped in lower right corner in Basic Black.
  • Don’t forget your envelope!

This is going to be a great week…be sure to stop by each day.

Here’s a reminder about a special from Stampin’ Up!…I’d be grateful if you ordered from my blog.  Just click the “shop now” star to the right.

Snowy Christmas…

Did you expect a Christmas card and a snowy one at that with this Thoughtful Branches stamp set?  These trees make a snowy scene a snap…

snowychristmas

I love how this card turned out…even better than I had imagined.

Here’s a peek inside…

One little trick to get the double matting on the oval and this card went together like a dream.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White Cardstock and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
  • Ink:  Old Olive, Basic Black, Soft Sky, VersaMark
  • Stamps:  Thoughtful Branches and Hang Your Stocking (sentiment)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Layered Ovals Framelits, Swirly Bird Framelits, Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Adhesive Strips, Swirly Squibbles Framelits

Digits

  • The 4-1/4″ x 11″ Thick Whisper White Cardstock was scored and folded at 5-1/2″
  • The Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ .
  • The top Thick Whisper White layer is 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″.  Place Whisper White layer over Dazzling Diamonds layer centered on magnetic platform.  Cut smallest oval through both layers.  Cut larger scalloped layer from top Whisper White layer only.  This gives you the double matting.
  • Using the Glimmer paper with the oval out, draw a light pencil line of the oval in the center of the card front.  Sponge Soft Sky over the area.  You don’t have to be careful as this will be covered by the Glimmer Paper.  Stamp several trees in Basic Black at different heights.  I used Gorgeous Grunge for snow flakes with VersaMark Ink and White Embossing Powder heated all over this oval.  Cut one of the Swirly Bird “waves” Framelits from Glimmer Paper  and add a piece to the bottom of the oval with multipurpose glue.
  • Now glue the Glimmer Paper to the card front.
  • Stamp sentiment and tree trunks in Basic Black then add leaves in Old Olive on top Whisper White layer with scalloped oval.  Run this top layer through Big Shot with Softly Falling EF.  Add Strip Adhesive around edges and add to card front over Glimmer Paper.
  • Inside cut a piece of Whisper White 2-1/4″ x 4-1/4″.  Stamp one tree in Basic Black and Old Olive.  Add a piece of the “wave” framelit cut from Glimmer Paper with multipurpose glue.  Run through Big Shot with Softly Falling EF.  Add to inside of card placed to the left.
  • Now I know it doesn’t show, but an envelope was made with the same tree stamped on the lower left corner to coordinate with this card.

I want to make this card again and add a window sheet and those cute little snowballs for a shaker card.  This just may be my Christmas cards!

Tomorrow is the last in the series using the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and Thinlets.  Hopefully you feel as I do that this set is so versatile.  Be sure to order before the end of this month if you want this set.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Merry ‘N Bright…

Here’s a technique found on Pinterest and thought it would look pretty on Brushed Silver cardstock.  Other than the “fussy cutting” this would be an easy card to mass produce with dramatic results.  Here’s the card…

IMG_1422

Now the card on Pinterest was done on darker cardstock and was really dramatic so you might want to try that, but this Brushed Silver is really pretty in person and hard to catch with a camera.  Are you interested in trying this?  Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff:

  • Paper:  Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler and Brushed Silver cardstock
  • Ink:  Memento Black, VersaMark and Blendability Pens Old Olive and Smoky Slate
  • Stamps:  Ornamental Pine and Good Greetings (sentiment) and Gorgeous Grunge (snow)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  1″ Sheer Cherry Cobbler Ribbon, All Is Calm Snowflake Embellishments, White Embossing Powder, Linen Thread

Digits:

  • The Basic Black base cardstock is cut 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • The Cherry Cobbler layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
  • The Brushed Silver layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • With VersaMark stamp the Pine Bough and the “snow” and coat with White Embossing Powder then heat
  • With Blendability Pens color 2/3 of the pine needles leaving the ends white.  Use all three Old Olive pens with darker color to center.  Use Smoky Slate to color branch.
  • Stamp pine cone twice on Brushed Silver with VersaMark and coat with White Embossing Powder, then heat and “fussy cut”
  • Attach Cherry Cobbler layer to card front.
  • Attach Cherry Cobbler Ribbon to top of Brushed Silver layer, tie snowflake with Linen Thread
  • Attach Brushed Silver layer to Cherry Cobbler layer.
  • Pine cones are attached with dimensionals.
  • Add your choice of sentiment to front with Memento Black ink.

Give this card a try…you will be really happy with the results.  Hope you have found a little inspiration from my post today.

Here’s your “B-ism” for the day…”A little glue and glitter and you can conquer the world!”

Had class this a.m. so you know I’m inky…but VERY HaPpY!

Santa’s Coming…

If one stamp set gives you endless possibilities (which is does!), then combining them will take you to the moon and back.  Today’ card is a combination of three different stamp sets and I just love the way it turned out.  Here’s the card…

IMG_1380

And here is the inside of the card…

IMG_1382

This card uses the stamp set Holiday Home, Ornamental Pines (sentiment) and Festival of Trees.  There are a couple of other tools I used, too…check it out in the Stuff ‘N Digits below…

Stuff:

  • Paper:  Whisper White, Pool Party, Lost Lagoon and Whisper White cardstock plus Silver Glimmer paper.
  • Ink:  Memento Black and Lost Lagoon
  • Stamps:  Ornamental Pine, Festival of Trees and Holiday Home
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Blendability Pens (Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive) Tree Punch, Frosted Sequins, Confetti Stars Punch, Homemade Holiday Framelits, Silver Glitter and Lucky Stars Embossing Folder

Digits:

  • The Lost Lagoon base card is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • The Pool Party layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″, stamp Santa & sleigh in Memento Black then emboss with Lucky Stars EF and add frosted snowflakes with Tombo
  • The Silver Glimmer snow base was cut freehand
  • Punch trees from Whisper White, Lost Lagoon and Pool Party then punch with Confetti Stars Punch
  • Punch trees from Silver Glimmer and adhere with Tombo to back of cardstock trees
  • Stamp house with Memento Black, color with Blendability Pens, use glue pen to add silver glitter to roof and windows and use coordinating framelits to cut out.
  • The first two staggered trees are adhered flat, the house is on single dimensionals and the last tree is on double dimensionals.

Whew!  It didn’t seem like it when I was making this card, but there were a lot of tools used on this one.  Tools can take you to the next level in your card design…

Here is your “B-ism” for today…”I can only please one person a day, and today is not your day.  Tomorrow doesn’t look good either!”  (Just kidding!)

Being inky is NOT over estimated…and I’m HaPpY to be inky…
