Foxy Thank You…

If you have been following along, there have been several posts related to the anticipated arrival of our newest addition to the family in March.  Today I’ll share the set of “thank you” notes made to coordinate with the theme of my g’daughter’s nursery and shower including the invitations she and I worked on together…

Using her “woodland” theme, here are the note cards…

and a close up…

I will tell you I did use the MISTI tool to stamp the sentiment and tree at the same time.  Stampin’ Up! doesn’t carry a similar tool (maybe in the future?) but it has made this project so much easier and faster not mention perfectly aligned and stamped.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Whisper White 3-1/2″ x 5″ notecards, plus Thick Whisper White Cardstock
  • Ink:  Pear Pizazz, Archival Basic Black and Calypso Coral
  • Stamps:  Foxy Friends and All Things Thanks
  • Tools:  Micron Black .005 Pen, Window Sheet

Digits

  • Stamp the tree at lower left corner in Pear Pizazz and sentiment centered top in Archival Basic Black.
  • Cut a piece of Window Sheet 2-5/8″ x 4″.  Center this sheet over card front and mark in pencil all four corners.  Using the .005 Black Micron Pen (you could substitute the Project Life Journaling Pen) draw the loops at each corner then connect with wavy line.  Where images are met, skip the border line and start again after image.
  • Stamp fox on scrap Thick Whisper White CS in Calypso Coral and face features in Archival Basic Black.  Fussy cut the image and attach to card front overlapping the tree with dimensionals.

Hopefully I can share pictures of the occasion with you early next week.

So today is Valentines…do you have any special plans?  Sweetums and I are cooking a meal together and maybe sharing something very chocolate!

Look what is blooming in my front yard!…

These are so dainty…maybe 5″ tall.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

And keep those fingers inky…you’ll be HaPpY!

ETA 3/20/17…

That’s right…estimated time of arrival is March 20th!  I’m talking about a baby addition to our family that will make some aunts, some uncles, grandmother and father.  For me…great grandmother!  Sweetums and I are over the moon excited to meet this little guy who has already been named Henry David Young.

So it seemed natural that I would help my granddaughter, Kendall, with some baby shower invitations.  We went through a mock-up and tweaks here and there until she was happy with the design.  Here’s what we came up with…

kendall3

Isn’t that the cutest?  Kendall has chosen woodland forest theme for her nursery and decorated it herself.  It is just the sweetest thing and perfect for a little guy to come home to.

Here’s a peek inside…

You can only imagine I’m sure,  how much fun these were to make.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits

Stuff

  • Paper:  Crumb Cake 3-1/2″ x 5″ Notecards/Envelopes, Thick Whisper White, Dapper Denim, Smoky Slate and Old Olive Cardstock, plus Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Paper
  • Ink:  Archival Basic Black, Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso
  • Stamps:  Always An Adventure
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Outdoor Adventure Framelits, Rotating Alaphabet Stamp

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White layer on front panel of Crumb Cake notecard is 3-3/8″ x 4-7/8″ attached with SNAIL
  • The Dapper Denim layer is 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″.  Cut Clouds at top of this layer then attach over Whisper White layer with SNAIL
  • Cut trees from Old OLive and mountains from Smoky Slate.  Add mountains then trees with multipurpose glue.  Cut “snow” for mountains from Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Paper and add to tops of three mountains with multipurpose glue.
  • Stamp on scrap Whisper White the bear in Early Espresso and cut with coordinating framelit.  Using sponge mat and rounded end of pen or piercer tool, lay bear face down and soften fibers in paper to give a rounded effect to bear.  Add to lower right side with dimensional.
  • Stamp road sign in Crumb Cake on scrap Whisper White CS and cut with coordinating framelit.  Set Rotating Alaphabet Stamp with the word “baby”, then stamp with Archival Basic Black Ink on top of road sign.  Add to card front at lower left side with multipurpose glue.
  • Inside the first layer is Dapper Denim and measures 3-3/8″ x 4-7/8″.  Attached with SNAIL.
  • The Whisper White layer measures 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″.  The lines were stamped with a really old retired SU! stamp.  You could type this information up on your computer and print out to add to the inside.  Mine were handwritten with invitation information.  The word “shower” was set up just like the “baby” on the card front with the Rotating stamp.  Cut arrow from Dapper Denim scraps and add with multipurpose glue.

Here are a couple of shots of Henry’s room so you can see how these invitations imitate the décor…

Let There Be Cake!…

There are so many celebrations on my calendar for May it’s hard to know where to start.  My November is like that too.  What’s up with those two months?

Here is one way I like to celebrate special birthdays rather than a card…

birthdaycake

These are the second cake post this week…I must be hungry for something sweet.  Here’s a couple of different views…

birthdaycake1

Love me some strawberry icing with chocolate cake…

birthdaycake2

and this blue polka dot is just sweet!

Of course a gift or chocolate can be placed inside for an even better surprise.  These are easy to make and fun to decorate.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White cardstock plus a DSP of your choice
  • Ink:  None!
  • Stamps:  None!  Although there is a stamp set that coordinates with this framelit set
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Basic Pearls, deco straw, Spiral Flower Die, Cutie Pie Thinlets

Digits

  • Cut two of the Cutie Pie Thinlet boxes (takes a full sheet of cardstock for each “piece of cake”)  Attach the two pieces with tear tape alternating pie shape and rectangle.  Burnish all score lines.  If you want to stamp “cake” stamp in chocolate or maybe strawberry you can do that before you assemble box.  Add tear tape to one center tap and rectangle tab.  Fold into box.  Close back after inserting gift if needed.
  • Cut one side of the box from DSP.  Trim at 1″ on rectangle side.  Cut a piece of DSP 2 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ for back of box and another piece 4 1/2″ x 1″ for the scalloped icing on one side.  Use the scalloping framelit to cut the back piece of the DSP that overlaps from top and the side of that same piece.  Scallop the 4 1/2″ x 1″ piece on one side.  Glue this piece to the top side that isn’t covered by the box top piece.  Add DSP to back of box then overlap the scalloped piece from top.  Check photos.
  • Cut bow from Whisper White fold and insert tips into slits, then and attach tail pieces with glue dots.  Use glue dots to attach to back of box over DSP.  Add Basic Pearl to center.
  • Cut two of the candle framelit and glue together from flame to end of candle but not the two half circles as they open to make the base for attaching to cake top.  I used Gold Wink of Stella on the flame.  Cut a deco straw and slip over candle before gluing to cake top.
  • Make two Whisper White roses and attach with hot glue.  Here I used leaves from this month’s Paper Pumpkin, but you could use leaves from Botanical Builder Framelits, Bird Punch or Rose Garden Thinlets.

These are perfect for birthday or shower favors filled with goodies.  You could make a whole or multi-layered cake for a wedding reception…there goes my ever running mind again…

So big Mothers’ Day weekend.  For those of us who no longer have our moms, it is a bittersweet day.  If you have children, I hope they all pay their respects and make your Mothers’ Day especially HaPpY!

Tea Table Favor…

Wouldn’t it be fun this spring to hold a tea or spring luncheon with some of your besties…maybe outdoors?  Maybe make it really girly and dress up the table with these sweet little butterfly boxes holding treats for each guest or use them as place cards…or both!

butterflybox

Sweet, right?  Here’s a view from the top…

butterflybox1

You could always write names on the tag and use on the table at each place setting.  I absolutely love to decorate a table for a small gathering.  Here’s an example of a little girls’ tea party birthday for Lyla (one of “the littles”) when she was six…

IMG_0240

Here I used the manikin form with tutu as the place card, little purses with treats inside and a faux cake and candle for each place setting.  Worked perfectly with great grandmothers handmade lace table cover and tiny tea sets.  So fun…

So back to our pretty butterfly box…can you imagine these as shower (wedding/baby) treats?  Or even with bird seed or a small gift inside at a wedding table?

Let’s see how easy these are to mass produce with these Stuff ‘N Digits

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Vellum and color of your choice or event cardstock
  • Ink:  Dots color of your choice to coordinate with event and Basic Black
  • Stamps:  the “for you” sentiment comes from Birthday Blooms
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Linen Thread, Basic Pearls, Labels Framelits, Butterfly Thinlets, Curvy Keepsake Thinlet and Elegant Butterfly Punch, Window Sheet, dauber, Itty Bitty Flower Punch

Digits

  • Cut two curvy box sides from Thick Whisper White.  Place dots with dauber in your choice of color on the outside of each box side.  Cut window with framelet on one box side.  Glue bases together with glue.  Glue window sheet on inside of side with framelit cut out.  Safe piece cut from window for label.
  • Cut three of the larger butterflies…one from your color choice of cardstock and one from a DSP and one from Vellum cardstock.  Punch one of the smaller butterflies from the Vellum.  Cut all butterflies in half.  Start gluing to one side of handle opening with cardstock, Vellum, DSP and last the smallest butterfly.  Repeat on other side of handle opening.  Pull the handle through to close the box.  Oh!  so cute!
  • Now punch your sweet little flowers with a pearl in center.  Stamp or write a name on your tag.  Punch a hole and tie on handles with Linen Thread.  Add the three little flowers with glue dots.

Done!  Really simple, right?  The hardest part is getting all the pieces cut.  A little assembly line action and you and your “besties” can knock these out in no time…

Thanks so much from dropping by today.  Hope your week has gotten off to a grand start…

Peek-a-boo…

Here’s another idea for the Easter Lamb stamp set that makes this set much more versatile than it appears…

peekaboo

To welcome a new little one, the baby shower, announcements and a birthday.  This little set will definitely come in handy.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Pool Party and Whisper White cardstock. Plus Have A Cuppa DSP (bet you didn’t think that?)
  • Ink:  Basic Black, Blushing Bride and Bermuda Bay
  • Stamps:  Easter Lamb and Suite Sayings (sentiment)  Oh so cute!
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Ok I admit I am a hoarder of yards of Vanilla Flower Trim.  Seriously I have four packs!  But look …you can color it with reinker to match your project!  Large Oval Punch, Linen Thread, Ovals Framelits and 1/4″ Pool Party ribbon.  You could use white seam binding…pretty!

Digits

  • The Pool Party base card is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
  • The DSP is 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″.  Use the larger oval framelit to cut toward the top of this piece, then attach to card front with adhesive.
  • Use one smaller oval framelit placed inside the oval already cut and run through Big Shot.  There’s your window all framed for you…
  • Stamp the lamb on scrap Whisper White in Basic Black ink and color inside ears and cheeks with Blushing Bride and a Blender Pen.  Attach with glue dots inside card peeking through the window.
  • Spritz your flower with water and add a couple of drops of Bermuda Bay reinker.  Use a paper towel to remove extra ink.  Dry with heat gun if you can’t wait for it to dry…that’s me!  Make bow loops and tie with Linen Thread in center.  Add flower with glue dots and then glue dot bow under window.
  • Stamp sentiment on scrap Whisper White in Basic Black ink and punch with Large Oval Punch.  Add to card front below bow with adhesive.

This has been a crazy day and I’m sliding in here by the skin of my teeth.  Hope you like today’s project and you are getting your fingers inky this weekend.

Video Valentine Sweets…

There is nothing as important as letting those we love know how much they are appreciated and loved.  Valentines is the perfect day to do that.  Are you ready?

Here’s a short video for you on the Sweet Treat holders posted last week.  Many had questions so I promised a video…

Enjoy!

Baby Bundle…

Today’s post is a CASe from a card Shelli demonstrated at Leadership last month.  I wanted this stamp anyway, but after I saw her card, it just had to be in my stash.  Here’s the card…

baby

Are you going “awwwww”…well, that’s exactly what I did when I first saw this stamp.  Of course, this is a bee, but mine doesn’t have wings anymore…snip, snip.  They can always be put back in case they are needed though.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you just in case you’d like to make a similar card…

Stuff

  • Paper: Crumb Cake Notecard, Calypso Coral and Whisper White cardstock, plus Best Year Ever  and Sweet Dreams DSP
  • Ink:  Memento Black plus Daffodil Delight and flesh Blendies
  • Stamp:  Baby Bumblebee
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Calypso Coral Pom Pom Trim, Crisp Cantaloupe Cotton Twine

Digits:

  • The Calypso Coral layer is 4 3/4″ x 3 1/4″
  • The DSP layer is 4 5/8″ x 3 1/8″
  • Attach Calypso Coral layer and DSP layer to card front.
  • Cut a 3″ square for “blanket”.  Fold the right side corner towards the center folding back point.   Fold the bottom corner up toward center. Fold the left side corner to center and wrap to back attaching with glue dot.
  • Stamp baby on scrap of Whisper White in Memento Black ink.  Color stripes with Blendie.  Cut out leaving a 1″ tab at bottom.
  • Place inside blanket and attach head with dimensional.  Attach Pom Pom with glue dot over the baby’s head.
  • Stamp sentiment on scrap and trim ends with Hexagon Punch.  Layer with a Calypso Coral layer behind.
  • Attach baby/blanket with glue dots and sentiment with dimensional to card front.
  • Attach cotton twine with glue dot.

Quick and sweet.  Perfect for gift enclosure, would make an excellent baby shower invite or welcome baby card.

Today was a class day for me so it’s been quite busy but lots of fun.  I’ll show the cards we did in the next few days.  Each one had a specific technique to highlight the card.  I think everyone learned at least one new technique today and seemed to really enjoy themselves.  Fun for me too!

How is you day been?  Hope you had an excellent weekend and got your week off to a great start today.  Be sure to stop back by tomorrow to see what’s going on here at RRS…

A Lil’ Easter Basket…

When I was in Tucson at a Demo Retreat, Sue Parker gave me the cutest box with coffee containers as a gift (Thank you Sue!).  I loved it!  Because I had to flatten the box to get it packed inside my suitcase I used the flattened box,  measured and cut and came up with an Easter treat box.  Here’s the lil’ box…

IMG_0862

Can you think of so many ways to make and decorate this box?  Can you see just barely there is a handle punched in the back in the center?  Once you have the measurements its pretty fast to put together.  This lil’ box would hold tea light candles, “Mr. & Mrs.” cellophane bags with treats for a wedding thank you gift or shower, and well, there’s got to be all sorts of baby things that would work.  You see how my mind goes nuts with ideas?  Would you like to give it a try?  Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits

Stuff:

  • Paper:  Sahara Sand cardstock and Sweet Sorbet (did you hoard any?) DSP
  • Ink:  Pool Party and Daffodil Delight
  • Stamps:  Petite Petals and Flower Shop
  • Tools and Embellishments:  Petite Petal Punch, Pansy Punch, Oval Punch, Pearl, Linen Thread, Seam Binding Ribbon and circle framelit

Digits:

  • Sahara Sand Cardstock is 7″ x 10″.
  • Score short end at 1 1/2″ and 5 1/2″
  • Score long side at 3/4″, 2 3/4″, 4 3/4″ and 6 3/4″.  On long sides cut score line to first score line.
  • On 3/4″ score end cut away small rectangle at each side to form a tab.  Opposite end cut away long rectangle on each side and punch with Oval Punch to create handle.
  • With circle framelit cut two circles from the panel next to the 3/4″ tab.  It’s a good ideas for a perfect box to angle the sides on your box side tabs before folding together.
  • Add sticky strip to the 3/4″ tab and last side tab to fold over.  There’s your box!
  • Decorate with your choice of DSP.  The end panels are 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″.  The front and back panels on the box are 1 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ and the one at the top handle is 1 1/4″ x 3 1/2″
  • Stamp and punch your flower and add the pearl before adhering with dimensionals.

I know this is a long description, but think of it like a recipe and just finish one step at a time and you will be successful.  Even if you mess up, you’ll learn what not to do and the next one will be much easier.  Believe me I mess up plenty…but I always learn something, too!

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…”Life is like a camera.  Just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t turn out…just take another shot!”

Inky fingers will make you happy…
