Ballerina Christmas Ornament…

Last year I made several of these Christmas ornaments, just in a different kind of frame.  This frame can stand alone or hang from the tree…

craftproject32

and here’s one other color combination…

craftproject31

Now I’m aware this stamp set is retired (surely I’m not the only one who kept it), but when you are preparing for a Christmas Market, you pull everything out hoping you have just what people are looking for.

Last year I made so many of these and most were special orders.  I shipped many all over this country to surprise little ballerina’s everywhere…

These frames are not like the ones I had last year (cause I couldn’t find them anywhere), but I think I like these even better.  They can stand alone or hang which is kind of neat.  I found them at Michael’s in case you have one in your market.  They had squares too.

Here is the Stuff ‘N Digits for today…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White Cardstock and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
  • Ink:  Archival Basic Black and Pool Party Ink, Blushing Bride and Real Red Markers.
  • Stamps:  Totally Trees and Sparkly Season
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Frame, 1/4″ Pool Party Ribbon and Linen Thread

Digits

  • I used the paper insert from the frame to cut the shape from Thick Whisper White Cardstock.  Stamp ballerina a little off center in Basic Black.  Stamp ballerina on post it note and “fussy cut” a mask.  Cover the first ballerina with the post it note mask.
  • Stamp background in Pool Party.  Stamp tree twice.  Remove mask…magic!
  • Lay bottom 1/3 of background piece on Dazzling Diamonds and draw or cut around bottom edge.  Hand cut top of Dazzling Diamond piece with slope shape and use multipurpose glue to attach to stamped background.
  • Color skin, hair and tutu with markers.
  • Insert into frame and make multi-looped bow at bottom tied in center with Linen Thread and attached with hot glue.   Use 9″ of ribbon to loop and hot glue to back for hanging.

Sending you the best of wishes for a HaPpY Thanksgiving with friends and family…

Market Tree Ornament…

Here is another idea for a thoughtful gift that I plan to have at the Christmas Market next week…

christmasframe

The nice thing about these frames is they can be hung from the tree or stand alone…

christmasframe1

The frames were found at Michael’s.  Another good thing about these frame is they do not have glass but a window sheet.  You can delete the window sheet and make your insert/decoration three dimensional.

You can see I have used November’s Paper Pumpkin to create these ornament backgrounds.  How sweet is that?

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  November Paper Pumpkin for blue insert, Real Red  and Old Olive Cardstock and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
  • Ink:  None
  • Stamps:  None
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Blossom Punch, May Flowers Framelits, Christmas Stocking Thinlets, Real Red 1/2″ Satin Ribbon

Digits

  • Cut Glimmer Paper background.  This frame took 2-1/4″ square.  Cut blue insert from Paper Pumpkin 2-1/4″ and attach to Glimmer Paper with multipurpose glue.
  • Cut another 2-1/4″ square Glimmer Paper and hand cut in half making slopes.  Add one over blue layer with multipurpose glue.
  • Cut “Noel” from Real Red cardstock and add over Glimmer Paper with multipurpose glue.  Insert layered square inside frame.
  • Cut two sizes flower from Real Red and attach with dimensional.  Cut center from Glimmer Paper and attach with dimensional.
  • Cut two Old Olive leaf branches and attach to one corner of frame with hot glue.  Add flower over top with hot glue.
  • Cut a 9″ piece of ribbon and add to back of frame with hot glue for hanging ornament.

It has really gotten down to crunch time for the market and I have begun to price items and pack them.  I’ve got to find a place to stop making things because I want to create a “stamping area” where people can give stamping a try.  I hope to interest some potential customers and maybe even a new team member or two!

You may not know this, but I live in Chattanooga and if you have seen any national news today, you may have heard about the school bus wreck here yesterday afternoon.  What a tragedy and sad loss of life.  Keep these families close to your hearts…

Silent Night Tag…

This is #7 in the series of tag/ornaments.  I love the way this one turned out…

tage6

Details you might miss because it’s hard to show in a photo…the stars were made with the border punch and there’s a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper behind them, the “lights” in the windows were made with tiny strips of cardstock glued to the back of each house.

I heard from a reliable source today that Michael’s has these frames on sale now ten for $10!  So many of you have been so kind with your comments and telling me how you have made these and loved them.  Today I had a comment from a reader in Ireland saying her sister was coming over for Thanksgiving from Massachusetts and bringing frames from Michael’s with her.  They are planning crafting time together making these.  Isn’t that the best?

Here are some Stuff ‘N Digits for you on this little gem…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Daffodil Delight and Night of Navy cardstock plus Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
  • Ink:  Basic Black
  • Stamps:  Jingle All The Way (sentiment)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Sleigh Ride Edgelits, 1/2″ Real Red Satin Ribbon, Silver Cording, Confetti Stars Border Punch

Digits

  • The Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper is 2 1/2″ square.
  • The Night of Navy cardstock is 2 1/2″ square punched at the top Confetti Stars Border Punch and attached to Glimmer Paper with Tomboy Glue.
  • Cut Thick Whisper White cardstock 2 1/2″ x 1 3/4″.  Cut with house Sleigh Ride Edgelit.  Stamp sentiment in Basic Black.  Cut tiny strips to place behind each house with adhesive to represent lights.
  • Add Real Red Satin bow with Silver Cording with glue dots to top of frame.

There are two more empty frames on my desk I hope to finish before Thanksgiving.  I will share them with you later this week.  For those of you who are making these frames, I’d love to see your creations.  You can check my facebook page at Rambling Rose Studio (Be sure and “like” it!)

Isn’t that just the cutest?  A couple of things you might not notice cause I can’t get them to show in the photo…Her dress is paper pieced with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and I love this snow from the Shaker Christmas Card set.  I’m thinking one of my “littles” would love this one.

Fox ‘N Forest Tag…

This is the fifth tag posted and I swear every time I make a new one…it’s my favorite.  Today is no exception…

tag4

See what I mean?  Things you might miss because they are hard to photograph…some of the snow flakes are embossed silver, Dazzling Details drape the tree branches for more shine and of course, it’s a shaker!

From the questions and comments I’ve been receiving I’m pretty sure Michael’s sales of these frames have spiked significantly!  When finished I will have ten of these cuties, but I could make them every day…they are truly addictive and Stampin’ Up! has so many stamps that are perfect.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for this one…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Whisper White and Pool Party Cardstock
  • Ink:  Mossy Meadow, Pool Party and Cajun Craze
  • Stamps:  Happy Scenes and Jingle All The Way
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Versamark ink, Silver Embossing Powder, Square Framelits, Snow, Dazzling Details, 5/8″ Satin Ribbon, Linen Thread and Mounting Tape (to make frame a shaker)

Digits

  • Cut your Whisper White 2 1/2″ square.  Stamp your trees in Mossy Meadow, snow with Pool Party and VersaMark ink.  Sprinkle with Silver Embossing Powder and heat.  Stamp fox in Cajun Craze.
  • Cut your Pool Party cardstock 2 1/2″ square and then cut the center with square framelit.  Glue window sheet to back with Tomboy Glue.  Add small strips of mounting tape around the edges of opening.  Lay the scene down and add a small amount of snow to center of square.  Remove strips from back of Pool Party and lay over the background scene and snow.  Insert into frame.
  • Make bow using Linen Thread and add to frame with glue dots.  Make a hanging piece of ribbon to loop of frame.

You know coming up with the idea for these frames takes longer than to produce the piece…

I’ve spent the day getting ready for family coming in Wednesday for Thanksgiving…you know, washing, cleaning, etc.  Tomorrow will be spent making lists for food and getting that here.  Then Monday and Tuesday cooking ahead as much as possible.  I really want to be free to enjoy the time together.

Hope you are planning a wonderful Thanksgiving spending time with those you love.

Shaker Tag…

The question most asked from all the comments on the last couple of days is…”where did you get that frame?”  The answer is Michaels.  They were on sale and I just couldn’t resist.

And they have been so much fun to work with.  Can’t you just see these tied on a Christmas package or hanging from the tree?  Wish I had bought more…

Today’s tag/ornament is a shaker…

tag2

Here is the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Whisper White and Pool Party cardstock
  • Ink:  Pool Party, Basic Black, Tangelo Twist

  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Circle Framelits, 1/8″ Silver Ribbon, Lost Lagoon (or your choice), sequins (your color choice) and mounting tape

  • Add sequins to stamped piece and carefully peel away the protective layer on the mounting tape on the back of the top layer and place over the stamped background.  Mount all layers inside the frame.
  • Make your bow and attach to frame with glue dots.  I also made a hanging loop with the 1/8″ silver ribbon.

We are experiencing a very rainy, stormy afternoon…perfect for creating in the studio.  Tomorrow night is our Hope Note night so I’ve got to get cracking!

Peaceful Pines Tag…

It’s so good to be home after a whirlwind trip to Tampa for Stampin’ Up!’s Global OnStage Event and St. Petersburg for some hugs and kisses from “the littles”.  We even got to go see Charlie Brown!  I’m here to report that the little red headed girl is still giving Charlie a fit.

Today I’ve got another gift tag or tree ornament to add to my collection…

tag1

These little tags are so much fun to make and will be a bright addition to any gift package.  Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

For this frame the window sheet was left off because I wanted the dimension to be highlighted.  The background is 2 1/4″ square in Very Vanilla that has been embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing folder and attached to the frame back with Tomboy Glue.

Both trees are from the Peaceful Pines stamp set.  They were stamped on Very Vanilla with VersaMark, sprinkled with Gold Embossing Powder and heated.  I used the Peaceful Pines Framelits to cut out the trees. The larger tree in the background is attached with dimensionals and the smaller tree with double dimensionals on the right side and single dimensionals where it overlaps the larger tree.

The bow is made with the Very Vanilla 1 1/4″ Subtle Stripes Satin Ribbon and the 1/8″ Gold ribbon and attached to the frame with glue dots.   The attaching loop was also made with the 1/8″ Gold ribbon.

I have eight more of these frames and hope to make each one differently.  So stop by this week and check them out.

Thursday night is Hope Note night at Rambling Rose Studio.  We will be making 100 encouraging note cards to be delivered to the women’s cancer center here locally.  It’s a fun night of sharing a meal together and creativity.  I’ll share some of them with you next week.

For those of you who follow my blog, you know my daughter who is in South Korea was diagnosed with thyroid cancer shortly after arriving there.  She had her surgery in September and radiation last month.  Just today we got the report that she is cancer free!  Sweetums and I are exhaling and celebrating this evening.  We are all just so grateful.  Thanks to many of you who have sent encouraging and thoughtful words…you will never know how much they are appreciated.

Let It Snow….

These Sleigh Ride Edgelits are one of my all time favorites and I’ve been buying SU! products since 1995!

Look at this ornament, or present topper (better than just a bow) or under $10 gift…

ornament

This ornament measures 4″ round so it’s a pretty good size ornament or gift topper.  Would you like the Stuff ‘N Digits?  Here you go…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Heavy Whisper White, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and Season of Cheer DSP
  • Ink:  None
  • Stamps:  None
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Sleigh Ride Edgelits, 5/8″ Satin Silver Ribbon,  Two-Way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Circle Collection Framelits and fake snow (non-SU) and Plastic 4″ Ornament (Hobby Lobby, $1.79 for two halves)

Digits

  • With the scalloped circle framelit cut the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
  • Cut the DSP with the 4″ Circle Framelit and attach to center of glimmer paper with Tomboy Glue
  • Cut two 3 1/2″ Heavy Whisper White circles.  Cut one in half and use for the two smaller scenes (trees and sleigh) making sure they stack up and each scene shows well.
  • Cut the remaining circle with the house framelit.
  • Add dimensionals or fun foam to the backs of the two smaller scenes then spread glue along edges of all three scenes for snow and sprinkle with Dazzling Diamonds
  • Attach the house scene to the DSP with Tomboy Glue then add the two additional scenes with the dimensionals on top
  • To put the half plastic ornament on top you can use the new Fine Tip Glue or hot glue.  Either way leave the DSP layers flat, add some snow then add the glue to the edge of the plastic ornament and set it on top of the DSP layers.
  • If you hot glued it, you are done.  If you used other glues, you might want to let it sit overnight and I congratulate you on your patience.
  • Add a loop of the Silver Cording for hanging if it will be used on a tree and/or add the 5/8″ Silver Satin Ribbon tying it through the ornament loop at the top.

There are several other ideas running around in my head … so look for some other ornaments using these edgelits soon.

Hope you are enjoying the weekend.  We are having some absolutely gorgeous cool fall weather.  I can hardly stay inside.

Glitter ‘N Glam…

This is it!…the last of the ornaments for the Rambling Rose Studio Christmas tree.  Tomorrow I’ll reveal the entire tree and hope after all the ornament posts it won’t be too anticlimactic.  This project with this All Is Calm DSP has been so enjoyable for me.  Here are a couple ornament ideas for you…

IMG_1664

and a different shot of this one…

IMG_1666

And just a little more silver glimmer for you…

IMG_1667

Other than the garland which I haven’t quite finished yet, the tree is complete.  Today was World Card Making day and the girls who came to class today were very complimentary about the tree.  For some fun photos of today’s class check my Facebook page at Rambling Rose Studio.

The new ornament today is the little box (gift).  It is made with the tiny treat boxes in the Holiday Catalog on page 10.  They come in a package of 25 for $6.95.

I cut strips of the DSP into 2″ strips and then again in 2″.  Six squares for each box to cover the top, bottom and all four sides.  The Silver Glimmer is punched with 1″ punch and glued with Tomboy glue.  For the top I punched a 1/8″ circle in the box top and one 1″ silver circle, knotted the silver Baker’s Twin and pulled through the box top and punched circle after gluing to the box.

It’s just so darn cute.  You could make these all day long.

Hope you are inspired by something you’ve seen today.

Here’s your “B-ism” for the day…”I love you more than biscuits ‘n gravy!”

That’s really saying something here in the South.  I can’t describe how inky I am after class today…but HaPpY!
