Henry’s First Birthday…

Alright, I know he was just born, but this Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper just kept calling his name.  So…I made this 8″ x 8″ sampler to celebrate his first birthday next March!

Found this frame at Hobby Lobby on sale.  It’s the perfect size for a sampler!

Close up of each corner…

and the last close up…

Had I been making this same sampler for a girl, there is an image of a little girl on the DSP and a stamp for her back along with a bouquet of flowers.  Change the Real Red Cardstock to Powder Pink and leave everything else as is…

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for this sampler…

Stuff

  • Paper: Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper plus Real Red  and Thick Whisper White Cardstock
  • Ink:  Real Red and Pacific Point
  • Stamps:  Birthday Delivery, Number of Years (st after number one)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Balloons Honeycomb Embellishments, Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit (surprise banner), Birthday Friends Framelits Dies, Large Numbers Framelits

Digits

  • This “shadow” frame measures 8″ x 8″ inside.  Cut the background DSP 8″ x 8″ and attach with SNAIL or multipurpose glue.
  • Cut the fox, Hip Hip Hooray banner, cake, gift box and birthday hat out of DSP using Birthday Friends Framelits Dies and set aside.
  • Fussy cut the bear, squirrel, turtle and bunny from DSP and set aside.
  • Using Large Numbers Framelits cut the number from DSP and Real Red Cardstock and set aside.
  • Stamp the word “surprise” in Pacific Point on banner from Cupcakes & Carousel Embellishment Kit.  Lay the banner on a piece of Real Red CS and draw around edges with pencil.  Fussy cut larger banner just outside pencil lines.  Glue these two banners together with SNAIL.  Add dimensionals to back and set aside.
  • Cut two Real Red CS pieces 3-3/4″ square.  Cut two Real Red CS pieces 3-3/4″ x 2″.  Cut two Real Red CS pieces 1-3/4″ square.
  • Cut two Whisper White CS pieces 3-5/8″ square.  Cut two Real Red CS pieces 3-5/8″ x 1-7/8″.  Cut two Real Red CS pieces 1-5/8″ square.
  • Attach all  pieces with SNAIL or multipurpose glue.
  • Cut two pieces of “grass” 3-5/8″ x 1″ or less adding freehand curves.  Attach to bottom of both 3-3/4″ square pieces.
  • Starting with top right corner and one of the 3-3/4″ squares, add fox to right of square along with banner using multipurpose glue.  Add gift box with dimensional.  Add decorated square to background square with multipurpose glue.
  • Add squirrel, turtle and bunny to one of the 3-3/4″ x 2″ rectangles with multipurpose glue.  Add had to bunny.  Add rectangle under fox square with multipurpose glue.
  • Add surprise banner under previous rectangle with dimensionals overlapping at top.
  • Add bear to left side of second 3-3/4″ square with multipurpose glue.  Add three honeycomb balloons and hand draw with journal pen strings from balloons to bear’s hands.  Add this square to bottom left corner of sampler.
  • Add second 3-3/4″ x 2″ rectangle with happy birthday over the bear square with multipurpose glue.
  • Add cake to one of the 1-3/4″ squares with dimensionals.  Add to top left corner of sampler with multipurpose glue.
  • Cut the number from Real Red CS and DSP.  Stamp “st” in Real Red right top of square.  Glue together offsetting.  Add to second 1-3/4″ square with dimensionals.
  • Place inside shadow frame!

How much fun is that?  I think I will make a girl one too…it’s just too cute.

Birthday Delivery…

Can you stand one more birthday card with these cute forest animals?  It’s hard to put this suite of products away.  Ideas keep coming to mind and need to be made!

Here’s today’s post…

Lots of “fussy cutting” here…

Glamour shot close up…

and a side view showing dimension of gift box and balloons…

and a peek inside (this would make a good card front too!)

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Real Red and Thick Whisper White Cardstock, plus Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper
  • Ink:  Real Red, Soft Sky and Journaling Pen
  • Stamps:  Birthday Delivery
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Birthday Friends Framelits, Balloons Honeycomb Embellishments, Sponge

Digits

  • The Real Red base card is 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored, folded and burnished at 4-1/4″
  • The top Thick Whisper White layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″.  Cut the bottom layer “grass” from DSP and attach to Whisper White layer with SNAIL.  Using a sponge add Soft Sky ink to top of Whisper White layer.  Add to card front with SNAIL.
  • Cut the fox from the DSP with framelit.  Cut his hat from DSP with framelit.  Cut gift box from DSP with framelit.  Fussy cut bear with baby bear and raccoon from DSP.  Add bear first in center of card front with multipurpose glue.  Add fox next overlapping his tail on bear.  Add raccoon last overlapping his trumpet.  Add balloons in top right corner and add strings with journaling pen to the baby bear’s paw.  How sweet is that?
  • Now inside the card I cut out a turtle and a squirrel.  The Whisper White layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″ attached with SNAIL.  Cut grass from DSP and add to bottom of layer with SNAIL.  Stamp Happy Birthday sentiment in Real Red.  Add to card with SNAIL.
  • You can see an extra gift box was cut out to attach to the lower left corner of the envelope to coordinate with the card front.

Next week I’m moving on to other new products.  But, believe me, this suite of products is so much fun to play with.

Hope your weekend will be everything you want it to be and more.

Whose Birthday?…

This may look like a child’s shaker card (and it could be and nongender specific too) but actually I’d love to get this cute card.  Owls are a favorite…

owl

Awww…owls are just too cute.  Here’s the inside too…

owl1

This little shaker card was really fun to make.  Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Tangerine Tango and Cucumber Crush
  • Ink:  Basic Black, Soft Suede, Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party and Cucumber Crush
  • Stamps:  Playful Pals, Blooming Birthday (inside sentiment), Watercolor Wings (front sentiment)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Balloon Bouquet Punch, Bermuda Bay Bakers Twine, Pyramid Pals Thinlets, Crystal Effects, Polaroid Frame Framelit (retired), Fun Foam, Window Sheet, Sequins

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • With an “E” acrylic block paint the surface with Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party and Cucumber Crush.  Spray with water and place at an angle on card front.  Press for a few seconds to give the ink time to be absorbed.
  • Cut frame from Thick Whisper White cardstock and white fun foam.  Glue a piece of Window Sheet to back of cardstock then glue fun foam over window sheet.  Place sequins on card front and glue frame at an angle opposite the stamped block.  If you don’t have the photo frame you could cut a rectangle 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ then use a square framelit 3 1/8″ or an exacto knife.  There’s always a way!
  • Stamp the owl body in Soft Suede on Crumb Cake, add chest feathers stamp.  Cut feet (frog) and beak from Tangerine Tango.  Trim feet and glue to back.  Glue one side of beak.  Stamp eyes on Whisper White, cut with framelit and add to owl with dimensionals.
  • Make sentiment tag and add to card front.
  • Punch balloons.  Add two with glue and one with dimensionals.  Tie three pieces of Bakers Twine together and use glue dots to add to card front.
  • Inside there is another colored acrylic block with a 2 1/2″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White added with adhesive.  Stamp sentiment in Basic Black.  Add another balloon with Bakers Twine.

There are a few more animals that would work well with this type of card using the Playful Pal Set.  I’ll be sure to share them with you…

There are several projects in various stages of being finished on top of every table in the studio to get to this afternoon, plus kits to be made for classes this weekend…so I’m off!

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Froggie Went A Courtin’…

Yesterday’s post was Lyla’s (one of the littles) Valentine and today’s post will be Jameson’s.  Somebody needs to come and take this bundle away from me because there is no where to stop once you start making these adorable animals…

firstsigh1

Seriously cute, right?  He will love this and the chocolate inside the box too.  There will also be an animal for all my peeps at classes this weekend.

Here is the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  3 1/2″ x 5″ Whisper White notecard, Whisper White, Real Red, Pistacho Pudding (grass) and Cucumber Crush Cardstock
  • Ink:  Basic Black and Cucumber Crush marker
  • Stamps:  Playful Pals and Greatest Greetings (sentiment)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Itty Bitty Heart Punch, Pyramid Pals Thinlets Dies

Digits

  • The Cucumber Crush layer is 3 3/8″ x 4 7/8″ attached to the notecard with adhesive
  • The Whisper White layer is 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″.  Stamp sentiment at top with Basic Black.  Stamp eyes on Whisper White, cut out with thinlet and color lids with Cucumber Crush marker.  Cut two legs and one box side from Cucumber Crush.   Glue with multipurpose glue the legs underneath and at sides of one triangle cut from box side and then attach this layer to card front with multipurpose glue.  Stamp head with Basic Black on green and cut out with thinlet.  Attach to top of triangle body with dimensional.  Add eyes to head with dimensionals.  Stamp box on Real Red and cut with thinlet.  Add to frog with dimensionals.
  • Use the grass thinlet with a littler green (I had a scrap of Pistacho Pudding) and attach at bottom with a cut strip of dimensional.
  • Attach Whisper White layer to card front your choice of adhesive.  I tend to use multipurpose glue on cardstock but not DSP as it wrinkles and shows.

Are you in love yet?  I really like these animal cards for kids and baby showers…

Now I think I’ll build an animal kingdom just for fun…they make me smile!

Owl Birthday For Lyla…

In a post last week I showed you this…

cupcake

These were favors for Lyla’s 8th birthday.  Here’s the gift inside…

owl1

My BFF necklace and bracelet.

But what I wanted to show you today was the card sent along with the favors…

owl

She loves owls so this was the perfect birthday card for her.  Cards for kids are the most fun to make.  Would you like the Stuff ‘N Digits for this?

Here you go…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Whisper White, Real Red, Basic Black and Crushed Curry cardstock plus DSP of your choice
  • Ink:  Memento Black
  • Stamps:  Birthday sentiment inside…your choice
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Itty Bitty Heart Punch, Large Heart Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, 1/2″ Circle Punch, Triangle Punch, Round Scallop Punch, Envelope Punch Board for rounding card corners, coordinating large Baker’s Twine and White Gel Pen

Digits

  • The Whisper White base card is 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″ and on back only 1 1/2″ down from score line.  Add Tomboy glue to this 1 1/2″ space so the back of the card is attached to the front of the card.
  • The DSP layer is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, attach to card front and round bottom corners
  • With the envelope punch board punch 1″ from the top side, flip and punch the opposite side.  Then turn the card and punch 1″ from the top corner on each side.  This creates the owl’s ears.
  • Punch 1/2″ Basic Black circles and 1″ Whisper White circles and glue together.  Add highlights with White Gel Pen.  Glue to card front.
  • Punch triangle with Crushed Curry and glue to card front.
  • Punch cardstock with Round Scallop Punch and cut in half.  Attach to card front at the edge only so you have space to slide in the punched heart.
  • Punch the large and smaller hearts, glue together and add a sentiment. Then slide into on of the scallop pockets.
  • Add Baker’s Twine bow to one ear.
  • There is room to write your message inside, but the card does not open at the very top.

Tomorrow the video of the wedding box will be up.  It takes forever to upload to YouTube.

Young Readers…

Do you like to read?  To get lost in a good book and wish it would never end?  Me too…

My hope is that the “littles” will love to read all their lives.  To encourage that I’m sending them a book marker.  When they were visiting we were marking our place with a popcicle stick of all things.

These will definitely work better than the popcicle stick and this stamp set was perfect…

bookworm

Since Lyla does wear glasses, this is even better for her.  And it was fairly quick to make.  Don’t know why I didn’t think to do this while they were here last week.  We were busy making Easter surprises for Mommy and Daddy I guess.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Crumb Cake notecard, Whisper White cardstock
  • Ink:  Strawberry Slush, Pear Pizazz, Daffodil Yellow, Pool Party and Memento Black
  • Stamps:  Alphabet Roller, Time to Celebrate and Gorgeous Grunge
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Scallop Tag Topper Punch, Linen Thread, Large Polka Dots EF and Daffodil cotton Baker’s Twine

Digits

  • 3 1/2″ x 5″ Crumb Cake notecard, embossed with Big Polka Dot EF
  • 2″ x 3″ Whisper White cardstock, punched with Scallop Tag Topper
  • Stamp “Book” in Memento Black with Alphabet Roller and Worm from Celebrate You at top
  • Stamp “splat” from Gorgeous Grunge in Pear Pizazz
  • Add adhesive over splat and loop Linen Thread on top
  • Stamp book worm on scrap Whisper White and color with markers then “fussy” cut
  • Add over Linen Thread on book marker with Dimensionals
  • Add book marker to card front with Dimensionals

The “littles” love to get mail…so this will be a nice surprise after school one day next week.

Hope your week has been awesome so far.  Thanks for taking time to stop by.

The “Littles” Have Left the Building…

So this was a wonderful week spent with the “littles” here.  The house was uncharacteristically noisy and chaotic which is fine by me.

However, today we took them to meet up with their Dad and we have returned to an empty, noiseless …well, mess!

Not to worry…the mess will get cleaned and we have had a week of really good memories.  I’ll share just a couple of photos with you…

spring1

Some time was spent in the studio making Easter surprises for Mom and Dad.

Every night we did this…

And we didn’t break anything either!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a project for you.  Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Spring Party Favors…

Today there will be a party at Rambling Rose Studio hosted by one of my stampin’ peeps.  She has five long time friends in from out of town.  They are spending several days together and she wanted them to experience her new love of stamping.

I told her SURE!  Bring those girls over and we’ll stamp away…

To celebrate their introduction into the stamping world, I’ve prepared three projects and made them these sweet spring favors…

jeanette2

You think they will like them?  Inside is Ghiradelli chocolate square (what’s not to like about that?) and the flower you see at the top is a pen stuck inside.  These would be perfect at a child’s birthday, a tea or shower.

Want the Stuff ‘N Digits?  Here you go…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Best Year Ever DSP, Whisper White cardstock
  • Ink:  Memento Black, Calypso Coral
  • Stamps:  Cheerful Critters, hearts are from stamps in January Paper Pumpkin
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Artisan Embellishment Kit, banners (January Paper Pumpkin), Mini Treat Bag Thinlets, Pansy Punch (tops of pens), Daffodil Delight 5/8″ Satin Ribbon

Digits:

hmmmmm….

  • I’ll just tell you to make your treat bags first based on the directions that come with the thinlet.
  • Stamp and color your critters.  They are mounted on banners left over from January PP, but you could use a 2″ x 5″ piece of cardstock and tag the ends with the Scallop Tag Topper instead.  Fill your bags and staple the hearts and banner to treat bag.
  • Embellish with pieces from Artisan Kit
  • The pen flowers are four Pansy punches.  Make an “X” in the center to fold over your pen.  Hot glue scrunching each one a little less.  Tie ribbon to hide your hot glue mess (well mine was messy)

These really didn’t take much time to make and I think they will be the perfect memento for the girls to take home with them.

Tomorrow I’ll show the hostess gift and maybe some photos of the event so be sure to stop back by.

Thanks for stopping by today…hope you have been inspired.

Hello Sunshine…

Before I post my card for today, I need to straighten out a mistake I made in a post this week.  I posted some great swaps from Leadership and put the wrong name on two of the samples.  Well…duh!

So here are the two cards with the correct names…so sorry!

swap9

Valerie Malkus

swap4

Joanne Rolston

Both are gorgeous and now the credit is correct…thanks for letting me know Valerie!

So the sentiment on the card today is one of my favorites.  I use it all the time with both of my granddaughters (big and little) because they bring so much sunshine wherever they go.

Here’s the card…

balloonsunshine

How fun is that?  I’ve gone a little crazy with this Balloon Bundle, but it’s so much fun to use.  This card isn’t particularly gender specific and it would certainly work for younger munchkins too!

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Whisper White and Sky Blue cardstock
  • Ink:  Memento Black
  • Stamps:  So You
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Washi Tape, Balloon Framelits, Circle Shaker Card Adhesvie and Stripped Baker’s Bakers Twine

Digits:

  • The Whisper White base card is 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • The Sky Blue layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
  • The top Whisper White layer is 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
  • On a scrap piece of cardstock layer your favorite Washi Tape  then cut out at an angle with the Balloon Framelit
  • Adhere the Soft Sky layer to the card front
  • Position the Washi Tape scrap piece on the Soft Sky layer so that it will show through the opening you made in the top layer
  • Stamp sentiment on top layer
  • Use the Shaker Card adhesives around the back of the balloon opening of the top layer
  • Use the edge of the dimensional sheet around the back outside edges of the top layer and place on card front.
  • Tie Baker’s Twine and attach with glue dot.

This card is simple and just looks “happy” to me.  Hope this little card inspires you to make your own creation.

I’m participating along with many other demos in 40 RAK (random acts of kindness) over the 40 days of Lent.  We are spreading sunshine and love.  Makes so much sense to me.  Come and join us if you like!

Here is your “B-ism” for today…
