Silent Night…

Can you tell I’m flipping all over the place with the three holidays coming up?  There is so much new product and I’m in a frenzy with ideas that can’t be produced fast enough.

Today’s post features the beautiful Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP used in the “herringbone” technique…

This DSP was perfect for this technique…and so easy to do too.  Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Paper:  Heavy Whisper White, Basic Black, Gold Foil cardstock plus Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP
  • Ink:  New Archival Black Ink (pg. 19 Holiday Catalog), Mossy Meadow
  • Stamps:  Wonderland
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Banner Triple Punch (pg.165 Annual Catalog), Lots of Labels Framelits (pg. 173 Annual Catalog), Two-Way Glue Stick and Metallic Gold Thread (pg. 159 Annual Catalog)

  • The Heavy Whisper White base card is 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • The Gold Foil layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ attached to card front with adhesive
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4″ x 5 1/4″ to be the base of you herringbone layer.
  • Choose two dsp designs and cut into 1/2″ wide strips.  Add two-way glue to back and begin with one long piece anywhere on the  Whisper White 4″ x 5 1/4″ cardstock.  Leave the edges to trim when you have finished covering the whole piece. Turn your card 90 degrees and begin placing strips in a design pleasing to you.  When the cardstock is completely covered, turn it over to the back and trim all edges.  Add this layer to your gold foil layer with adhesive.
  • Cut a piece of Gold Foil 2″ x 4″, stamp with Black Ink and punch with Banner Triple punch.  Adhere to right side of your card front.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White and Basic Black with the Lots of Labels Framelit.  Cut the black layer in half and adhere to each end of the Whisper White layer.  Stamp Silent Night in Black and pine bough in Mossy Meadow.
  • Add a dimensional where you will place the sentiment on the card front.  Loop several layers with Gold Metallic Thread over the dimensional.
  • Add dimensionals to sentiment layer and add to card front over Gold Metallic Thread.
  • Inside the card I stamped the tree image in VersaMark and sprinkled with gold embossing powder.
  • It would be easy to use the trees again on the envelope to coordinate with the card or use the DSP on the envelope flap or as an envelope liner.

Hope you enjoyed this technique.  Look for a video on my facebook page (Rambling Rose Studio) in the next couple of days…

It’s Friday and date night at my house…dinner and a movie.  Have you seen Mission Impossible?  I didn’t expect to like it…but I did!

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…
