Elegant Neutrals…

I do love color but sometimes just neutrals with maybe a little bling works great for an elegant look…

well…maybe a lot of bling!

Love all the texture…

This one won’t cost extra postage either.

And a peek inside.

Seriously I’m not an elegant person, but sometimes it’s fun to shoot for it.  Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White and Basic Black Cardstock, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and Copper Foil
  • Ink:  Archival Basic Black and VersaMark Ink
  • Stamps:  Watercolor Christmas
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  1/8″ Gold Ribbon, Swirly Snowflakes Thinlets Dies, Gold and Silver Embossing Powders, Textured Snowflake Embossing Folder

  • The Basic Black base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″.  Score and fold at 5-1/2″ with a bone folder.
  • Cut a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″.
  • Cut a piece of Copper Foil 3-3/4″ x 5″.  Emboss in center with Textured Snowflake Embossing Folder.  Sand just the raised snowflake slightly.  Swipe entire piece with Archival Basic Black Ink Pad.  Let dry.  Add  VersMark with the ink pad all over panel.  Sprinkle with Gold and Silver Embossing Powders and heat.  Add this panel to the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper with multipurpose glue and weight these layers down until dry.
  • Cut 7 snowflakes with Swirly Snowflakes Thinlets Dies.  Glue together with glue dots or multipurpose glue to make 3 sets of two and a single flake for the card inside.
  • Cut three lengths of 1/8″ Gold Ribbon.  Attach at back with Tear Tape and on card front with glue dot.  Add more Tear Tape to back and add this panel to card base.  Attach three sets of snowflakes at end o 3/8″ ribbon with glue dots.
  • Inside the Thick Whisper White layer is 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″.  With Multipurpose Glue add 1/4″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper at bottom of layers.  Add single snowflake with glue dot over strip.
  • Stamp sentiment in Archival Basic Black.
  • This snowflake could be embossed on the left side of the envelope to coordinate with the card front.

Everything from my studio is packed and ready to fly next week.  Now to catch up on house chores, grocery shopping and cooking for Sweetums and then pack for myself.  This time next week I’ll be in Lydia’s class and loving it!

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

It’s going to be an awesome month…

Holiday Metallics…

Throwing caution to the wind, I followed an idea that came to me using a dark background with several shades of embossing powder.  See what you think…

Now that’s drama isn’t it?

This is another flat card with lots of eye candy.  Don’t get me wrong…I love layers!  But when you are mailing lots of cards, it can get expensive really quick.

This sentiment is retired, but there are several offerings in the Holiday Catalog that would be as pretty…I just don’t have them yet.

This is a two-step stamp so I used that to my advantage and created a background with Craft White Ink before stamping the wreath.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits if you’d like to give this one a try…

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White and Early Espresso Cardstock, plus Gold Foil Cardstock
  • Ink:  Craft White, VersaMark
  • Stamps:  Feeling of Christmas
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  White, Gold, Silver Embossing Powder, White Paint Pen, Embossing Buddy

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored, folded and burnished at 5-1/2″
  • The Gold Foil layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″ attached to card front with multipurpose glue.
  • The Early Espresso layer is 3-3/4″ x 5″.  Use your Embossing Buddy all over the surface of this layer.
  • Stamp the wreath background in Craft White Ink and dry with heat gun.  Stamp wreath in VersaMark Ink, sprinkle with Silver EP and heat.  Stamp berries in VersaMark around the wreath, sprinkle with Gold EP and heat.
  • Use the White Paint Pen to color bow and add highlights to berries.
  • Stamp sentiment at bottom of card front in White Craft Ink, sprinkle with White EP and heat.
  • Attach this layer over Gold Foil layer with multipurpose glue.
  • Inside there is a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ layer of Gold Foil with a Thick Whisper White layer on top 3-1/8″ x 4-1/8″ attached with multipurpose glue.

Another dramatic but flat card for easy mailing during the holidays.

Hope you are having an awesome day.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Have a good tone, but come back Monday!

Rustic Merry Christmas…

Three days and counting…OnStage Atlanta is right around the corner!  Am I ready you ask?  Kinda…sorta.

But at this point I’m feeling very confident all my ducks will be in a row on Thursday before heading off to Atlanta…I’m close, really close.

But this weeks’ posts are beautiful and I’m looking forward to sharing them with you.  Today’s post I’m calling “Rustic Merry Christmas” because some elements are tattered and rustic, while others are very elegant.  Always an interesting combination…

Woodgrain, tattered and distressed edges give this card a rustic look as do the swirly bird swirls in Baked Brown Sugar.  While the 5/8″ Gold Satin Ribbon and sequins along with the Gold Foil layer lend a more elegant look.  I love this combination…

Here’s a peek inside…

Smaller and more simple pieces coordinate with the card cover leaving plenty of room for your personal holiday message.

If you like the rustic/elegant combo, here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

I drew this card out in my planner last night deciding on colors and stamps.  Then when I get into my studio, the card goes together much faster.  Tomorrow’s post and Wednesday’s are already sketched in my book for you.  On Thursday I’ll share my “Roomie Gift Bags” for On Stage including what’s inside (I hope they will like them!), Friday I’ll share my swap card for OnStage and Saturday I’ll post snapshots and maybe a “live” feed from OnStage.  Next week I’ll post some of my favorite swaps received for you to enjoy.  The talent and creativity always amazes…

Hope your day is going well.  We are experiencing another record-breaking temperature of 90 degrees on Halloween!… and still no rain in sight.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

today is the day.
