Butterfly Wishes…

Here’s a technique you might enjoy trying.  It’s made with the Basic Butterfly stamp set and framelits.

I love the effect of the butterfly flying right out of the front of the card.  Here’s how you do it if you haven’t tried it yet…

Isn’t that pretty?  I purposely left the sentiment off until this card is ready to be sent.  Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Very Vanilla, Basic Black and your choice of DSP
  • Ink:  Memento Black
  • Stamps:  Basic Butterfly
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Basic Butterfly Framelits

Digits

  • The Very Vanilla base card is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • The Basic Black layer is 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • The top Very Vanilla layer is 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Cut a Basic Black butterfly and set aside.
  • Position your top Very Vanilla layer on a cutting pad on top of the magnetic board.  Now lay down the butterfly framelit and position the top cutting pad from the midpoint of the framelit out.  Run through the Big Shot.  Turn the magnetic board around and reposition the top cutting pad so that you are cutting the other side of the butterfly leaving the center uncut.
  • Adhere the Basic Black layer to the card front.
  • Adhere your DSP of choice to the center of the Basic Black layer.
  • From the back of your Very Vanilla layer, place the cut out Basic Black butterfly.  Add Tomboy glue to the back of the butterfly and Very Vanilla cardstock and attach to the card front
  • Stamp the smaller butterfly on a scrap of Very Vanilla and cut with framelit.  Attach to top of Very Vanilla butterfly.
  • The antennae are hand drawn.  The center of the butterfly is a long skinny triangle of Basic Black rolled from the fat end first and glue with Tomboy.  Glue to center of butterfly.
  • You can see I have stamped some of the smaller butterflies to the envelope to coordinate.

This is really an impressive card in person.  I hope you will give it a try.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Flippin’ Butterflys…

One of the swaps from convention set up the idea for today’s card.  It was made by Nicole Gunderson and I just loved her concept and came up with this revision…
