Tone On Tone…

It’s beginning to look a lot like “wedding season” around here.  And even though it’s spring time with all those pastel colors that come to mind, today’s wedding (or anniversary) card is a tone-on-tone neutral color palette with a quilting effect…

The heart “quilting” shows up well…

Glamour close up…

opposite angle…

and a peek inside.

It’s always nice if you know the bride’s choice of color for the wedding to add the color to their card, but neutrals are always elegant and a good choice if you aren’t sure.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Very Vanilla, Tip Top Taupe, Sahara Sand Cardstock
  • Ink:  Archival Basic Black and Craft White

  • The Very Vanilla envelope was also stamped on the flap in Sahara Sand with the same flourish stamp.

How beautiful is our weather leading up to this Easter weekend.  Hope you are also enjoying some pretty spring weather.  Spent all my money at the nursery yesterday and all afternoon planting window boxes, hanging baskets and flower beds.  Perfect afternoon!

Golden Anniversary…

Because several of my best friends we also my best friends in school, golden anniversaries are popping up this year.  How amazing is that…and wonderful?

In anticipation of those events and because Stampin’ Up! currently has the perfect Designer Series Paper, Thinlit Dies and stamp sets, making cards for these friends will be a snap.

Here’s today’s design…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla Cardstock
  • Ink:  Sahara Sand

Is everybody doing their “HaPpY” Friday dance?  Me too!  This is a great day as my son, Jeff (father of “the littles”) is in town for business and we are meeting for lunch.  I’ll try to get a pic of him for tomorrow’s post so you can meet him.

Hope you have fun plans for the weekend…we are having a spring weather weekend.

Golden Anniversary…

It’s somewhat unusual these days…a couple staying together 50 years.  So when that happens in my life, it’s the perfect opportunity to make them a special card to celebrate the occasion.

This new stamp set (releasing in January 2017) called “So in Love” along with the coordinating So Detailed Thinlits Dies was my choice for today’s post…

heartsnflowers

This whole suite of coordinating products on pages 50 – 52 is awesome.  (If you need a catalog, leave me a message)  I mean, SU! thought of everything!  Now I’m using this card for an anniversary, but it would so make the perfect wedding card or Valentine’s.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Ink;  VersaMark
  • Stamps:  So in Love

A Love Note…

Do you remember in elementary school making a Valentine mailbox?  All the kids in your class would drop a card inside and some of the messages ended with “check yes or no”?

Pretty soon Valentine love notes will be all digital…

But today we can enjoy making those love notes and sending them to all the special people in our lives.  Here’s one that will work for almost anyone on your list…

lovenote

Isn’t that heart border pretty? …and so easy to do.  Inside the small envelope is a small love note that says, “I love you”.  How sweet is that?  If you were making these with your kids or g’kids, you could just make the 3″ square with the envelope and love note inside.  Simple!

Either way, here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White and Real Red Cardstock, plus Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack
  • Ink:  Real Red, Blushing Bride and Archival Basic Black
  • Stamps:  Sealed with Love
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  1/2″ Seam Binding (retired), Linen Thread, Stitched Squares Framelits, Scalloped Square Framelits, Love Notes Framelits

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored, folded and burnished at 4-1/4″
  • Cut front edge with hearts border framelit.  I trimmed away the edge on the right side of the hearts because they weren’t trimmed evenly.
  • Add a piece of DSP on the card front 3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ with SNAIL.
  • Cut a Real Red Scalloped square and a Thick Whisper White stitched square to fit over the Real Red square.  Stamp sentiment in Archival Basic Black on Whisper White layer.  Attach squares together with SNAIL and to card front with SNAIL.
  • Cut envelope from scrap Whisper White attaching corners with glue dots.  Cut envelope flap liner from DSP and attach to envelope flap with SNAIL.  Add to card front squares bottom center with multipurpose glue.
  • Stamp small hearts in Blushing Bride and Real Red (use markers to color) on scrap Whisper White and cut with framelit.  Stamp “I Love You” sentiment on this small note and slide into envelope.
  • Inside there is a 4-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ Real Red layer with a 4-1/8″ x 3-1/8″ Whisper White layer.  Stamp some hearts in Real Red and Blushing Bride in lower right corner and on envelope to coordinate.

Valentine’s, weddings and anniversary celebrations will be a snap with this bundle in your inventory.  This set you will use over and over all year long.

My stamping “peeps” will be coming over Monday for our annual Christmas party.  We are doing a “shoebox swap”, swapping and taking gifts under $10 and oh yes! eating our favorite holiday snacks brought by all.  Hot apple cider and lots of good cheer.  It will be a fun day here at the studio!  Wish you all could be here…how much fun would that be?

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

sounds reasonable.

Good time to stay inky and be HaPpPy!

B

So In Love (again)…

My Christmas cards are made and half the envelopes have been addressed…but no two are alike.  Nope, no mass producing here because I’ve been making Christmas cards since August!

So you will understand when I tell you the post today is not a Christmas card?

Today the stamp set “So In Love” was used for a Valentine, wedding or anniversary card.  Or a card for anytime you just want to let someone know you love them.

soinlove

and the inside looks like this…

soinlove1

An “anytime” I love you card…right?

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Stamps:  So In Love
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  1/2″ White Seam Binding, Circles and Squares Stitched Framelits, Linen Thread

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored, folded and burnished at 5-1/2″
  • The first DSP layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″ .

Real Red Ink and Whisper White Cardstock are a color combination that is always crisp, clean and pleasing to the eye.

We were up half the night as our weather alert alarms were very active with severe thunderstorms and tornado alerts.  You’ve probably seen the fire devastation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on the national news.  Those fires were fueled by strong wind sheers and of course the extreme drought suffered in this area since last spring…the perfect storm.  Gatlinburg is about a 90 minute drive from where we live and a popular tourist destination in the Great Smoky Mountains.

The first market experience is notched on my belt!  Two ten-hour days of “first” experiences.  I came home with very little product, which is good!  I met lots of new people including several who asked me to email my class schedule and gave away some catalogs.  My respect for festival and market vendors is at a new high…it is so much work before the event, during and after.  Would I do it again?  Ask me in a week or so…

Hope you liked this card today.  It would make a valentine, anniversary or even a wedding card I think.

Yellow Roses for 50 Years…

Today’s card is for a really special couple celebrating 50 years of marriage.  I so enjoyed making this card for them…

marnie2

and here’s the inside…

marnie

I love making cards for any occasion, but something magical happens when I make a card with someone special in mind.  All the memories and experiences we’ve shared over the years are built into the card using paper, ink, bling (of course!) and sticking it all together with Glue Dots!

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you just in case you need an anniversary or wedding card…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White (I love this paper!)
  • Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry and Smoky Slate
  • Stamps:  En Francias (retired, background), Gorgeous Grunge (background), Birthday Blooms and Timeless Love (sentiment and small flowers)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Daffodil Delight 5/8″ Seam Binding, Distressing Tool for paper edges, Linen Thread, Gold Wind of Stella

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 5-1/8″ x 8-1/2″, scored, folded and burnished at 4-1/4″
  • The first Thick Whisper White layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Stamp background in Smoky Slate and over stamps with Daffodil Delight and Gorgeous Grunge splat stamp.  Distress edges and attach to card front with SNAIL.
  • The second smaller Thick Whisper White layer is 2-3/4″ x 4″.  Stamp sentiment in Smoky Slate.  The border was hand drawn with Smoky Slate marker small end.  Add to card front with Adhesive Strips or double dimensionals.  Both large and small flowers were stamped on scrap Thick Whisper White and colored with Daffodil Delight Reinker dropped in stamp pad lid.  Use Aqua Painter and water to apply ink to flowers.  Add Crushed Curry to centers.  Maybe leave the flipped edges in a lighter shade.  Add Crushed Curry at petal bases.  Fussy cut large and small flowers.  Use the large end of your stylus or anything with a round smooth surface and work the back of these flowers lying on your sponge mat to break down fibers and give a rounded effect from the front.  Add double dimensionals to the back.  Gold Wink of Stella was added to flower centers.  Stamp the entire large flower on scrap Thick Whisper White in Smoky Slate and fussy cut.  Add painted flower on top with double dimensionals the add both layers to card front.
  • Make triple loops with ribbon and tie off in center with Linen Thread.  Add at base of larger flower with Glue Dots.  There are glue dots at the ribbon ends too to hold them in place.  The edges were frayed to repeat paper distressing.
  • Inside the Thick Whisper White layer is 2-3/4″ x 4″ with distressed edges.  Add sentiment in Smoky Slate.  The small flowers were stamped on scrap, colored with Aqua Painter leaving leaves unpainted like the card front.  Fibers were also broken down from back to give rounded effect.  Add to card with double dimensionals.

I really love this card, but I’ll be honest with you…it’s the second one I made.  The first got chopped up and some of the pieces were used on this one.  I just thought the first one looked too plain.  If I were to make this one again, I might place a layer of Daffodil Delight behind the first layer to just peek out a smidge…what do you think?

Yesterday I had one of my biggest classes ever and did we ever have fun!  There were three “newbies” in the group, but they weren’t “newbies” for long.  My seasoned stampers drew them under their angel wings and guided them through their first class.  They did amazing because I can tell you we didn’t do “beginner” projects.  So fun watching someone stamp for the first time…never gets old to me!

Hope you are having the best day and something you’ve seen here today inspires you in your own creative journey…

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Congratulations…

Today’s post was also water colored like the pumpkin yesterday but turned upside down to create a hydrangea bloom in all their gorgeous colors.

Check yesterday’s post to see how to set up painting with reinker (ramblingrosestudio.com/pumpkin-spice/).

This and one other card were made for two new recruits to my team to congratulate them on the best decision they ever made…to become a demo!  I wrote them a heartfelt welcoming note inside on a post it note so that the card could be reused is they wanted.  These two have been coming to class for almost four years and have become dear friends to me.

Here’s their card…

pattybar1

Doesn’t that make a perfect hydrangea bloom?  The difference between the painting of the pumpkin yesterday and today is the Clear Wink of Stella pen was used as the paint brush along with the reinker to give an all over glow to the bloom.

I took a close up hoping you would be able to see all the blingy shine…

pattybard

It really is difficult to show in a photo…but it just glimmers.

Here are the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Water Color Paper, Thick Whisper White Cardstock and Copper Foil
  • Ink:  VersaMark, Perfect Plum, Sweet Sugar Plum, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, River Rock and Pear Pizazz
  • Stamps:  Thoughtful Branches and Floral Phrases (sentiment)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Copper Embossing Powder, Linen Thread, Thoughtful Branches Thinlets and Copper Metallic Thread

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″
  • The Copper Foil layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″ attached to card front with multipurpose glue
  • The top Whisper White layer is 3-3/4″ x 5″.  Stamp sentiment in VersaMark at lower right corner, add Copper EP and heat.
  • Cut the leaves/stem and bloom from water color paper with coordinating Thinlets.  Do not punch out of water color paper.  Set up all your reinker colors.  Spritz the water color paper with water so that the cut outs are damp.  Use your Clear Wink of Stella Pen to add color.  Be sure to shake and have the well full so that the glimmer will mix with the reinker as you use it.  Start with your lightest color then go back and add some of the darker shade of that color.  Let dry.  At this point you could still add more Clear Wink of Stella if you wanted more glimmer.
  • Decide where the center of your bloom will be on your card front and add a dollop of multipurpose glue.  Make several loops of Copper Metallic Thread and add to this glue.  All small amounts of glue to stem and bloom and add to card front.
  • Make bow (video here) and attach to stem with glue dots.
  • Inside there is a layer of Copper Foil 3-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ with a Whisper White layer 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″

Personally I would send this card any season of the year, but it would be especially appropriate for spring.

Tomorrow let’s make a tree and a card to send in the summertime…be sure to stop by!

To Hug ‘N To Hold…

Today’s post was made with two really special people in mind who are wonderful friends and used to be neighbors that are celebrating their wedding anniversary the first of July.  Hope they like it…

babybear

I just couldn’t help myself!  Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White Cardstock, Dazzling Diamonds and Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper
  • Ink:  Basic Black, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate
  • Stamps:  Baby Bear
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Rhinestones, 3/4″  and 1″ Round Punch, Itty Bitty Flower Punch (retired)

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″
  • The Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ attached to card front with multipurpose glue
  • The top Thick Whisper White layer is 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″.  Stamp the bear on post it note and “fussy cut” to use for a mask.  Stamp the top bear with Smoky Slate that has been stamped off, the second layer with straight Smoky Slate and the third layer with Basic Gray.  Cover with mask and stamp the second bear in the same sequence.  Remove mask.  Awwww…
  • Using an Aqua Painter and reinker in lid of Smoky Slate, add a shadow under both bears.
  • Stamp the bow from this set on the back of Blushing Bride Glimmer paper and “fussy cut” the bow without the two ends.  Add to bear with glue dot.
  • Punch a 3/4″ circle from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  With the 1″ circle, punch over the 3/4″ hole in the Glimmer paper to make a 1″ circle frame.  Cut this frame in half.
  • Punch three Itty Bitty Flowers in Whisper White.  Using the blunt end of Piercing Tool and your sponge mat, push the blunt end into the flower to give dimension.  I colored the Rhinestones with permanent marker in pink and added to 3/4″ circle with multipurpose glue.  Add to the second bear with glue dots.
  • Punch two flowers and layer with a glue dot.  Add Rhinestone to center.  Glue half of the 1″ circle frame with multipurpose glue to make a headband.  Add flower with glue dot to headband.
  • Stamp one half of the sentiment on the stamp by inking with Basic Black marker only the words you need.  I used a mini MISTI to stamp this sentiment here and the other half on the inside of card.
  • Inside there is a 3-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ layer of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ layer of Thick Whisper White on top stamped with the second part of the stamp “from this day forward”.

See…this baby bear isn’t just for baby cards!

So tomorrow Sweetums leaves for his trip to South Korea to see our daughter and son-in-love.  While there he will attend the Change of Command ceremony for Jay.  I hope to share some photos of the event later as this is a big deal for him.

Hope to see you right back here tomorrow!
