Becoming a new grandmother is one of life’s experiences where words simply can’t describe the love that fills your heart. A very special friend of mine is looking forward to this experience in a few short weeks!
Learning from her that the new parents are planning a grey nursery with an animal theme gave me the idea for this framed piece…
It’s hard to tell from the photo…the size of the frame is 8 1/2″ x 12″. Sweetums asked is the frame going to be painted? Geez…no, it came that way from Hobby Lobby.
Do you zentangle? This is an amazing art form that is new to me, but because doodling comes naturally to many, you’ll find it fun and relaxing. The name was freehand in pencil, water colored and then outlined and zentangled with a Micron pen on watercolor paper. Next water was added under each letter and color was added to run off the page.
Now for the SU! part…All the animals are SU! stamps (Zoo Babies and Oh, Whale!). Each animal was stamped in Daffodil Delight lightly for an outline. Water coloring and outlining with a Micron pen finished off most of them. Because of the type of frame, there was room for some dimension to the animals.
The giraffe is actually “fussy cut” and added over the painting.
The elephant has a jeweled blanket up on dimensionals as is the bird. The head of the lion was also “fussy cut”.
This was fun to do and a challenge at the same time. Here’s hoping the new mom and dad will like it enough to hang in the lil’ guy’s room.
Here is your “B-ism” for today…
Let’s get inky and…Be HaPpY!
