Saying Goodbye…

When my oldest g’daughter moved out on her own, she also adopted a cat she named “Duncan” from the local Nashville animal shelter.  And they were on their own just the two of them.

That fluffy little kitty grew into the most beautiful, sweet cat.  But he passed away suddenly this weekend and my g’daughter is heartbroken.  We are just never prepared to say goodbye to our pets.

This is Duncan.

So I made this card for Kendall and wrote to her from my heart because we all have experienced losing our best furry friend…

The cat punch had just been delivered, but this was not in my plans when I ordered it.

A glamour close up…

The envelope flap was covered in DSP to coordinate with the card front.

Using the left over ink from the card front inside the card.

Keep this card in mind when you need a sympathy card for someone’s furry friend…

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White Cardstock plus Coffee Break Designer Series Paper
  • Ink:  Soft Suede, Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay
  • Stamps:  Wood Words and Sorry for Everything (sentiment)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Cat Punch

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored, folded and burnished at 5-1/2″
  • The DSP layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ attached to card front with SNAIL.
  • The top Thick Whisper White layer is 3-3/4″ x 5″.  Stamp sentiment in Soft Suede.  Color flower stamp with Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay markers.  Huff on the stamp before stamping.
  • Punch the cat from this layer.  Glue this layer to the card front with SNAIL.
  • Punch four more cats from Thick Whisper White CS.  I used a small amount of multipurpose glue between layers and then put a small amount on the card front and placed the now single fate cat inside the punched opening.
  • Inside there is a 5″ -3-3/4″ piece of DSP with a Thick Whisper White CS layer on top.  All placed inside the card with SNAIL.  I huffed the Wood Word stamp again and stamped in the middle of the Whisper White layer.  It was faint enough to write my message over the top.
  • The envelope flap was also covered in the same DSP.

Life happens and as card makers we can always respond with just the right message for those we love.

Hope your Monday is super!

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Keep those fingers inky…be HaPpY!

  1. What a sweet card for Kendall. Sorry about her cat. I know this card will comfort her. What a clever idea of using the cat punch and making it blend in with the flowers.Your coloring with markers on the stamp is amazing. I need practice because mine never looks this good. Love the “b-ism” today. Have a great day, Billie.

    • Hey HJ…yes, Kendall is devastated. We all know how she feels. She had an appointment today with the vet but I’m sure her only option would have been a hard decision. At least she was spared that…B!

  2. Billie, please let Kendall know that we share in her sadness. Even when we know that it is time for our pets to cross the Rainbow bridge, it is still so very hard to let go.
Kendall, grieve as long as you need to for Duncan. I am sure he will let you know when you should start looking for another sweet kitten. They will never replace Duncan, but they will help fill the hole in your heart. Be patient, but don’t pass up the opportunity when you feel a little meow telling you it is okay to have someone new in your life.
    Bless you and take care.
    Michelle

    • Thank you Michelle…sadness shared is sometimes less difficult. Hugs always seem to help. Thanks for stopping by today!…B1

  3. Such a sweet card for such a difficult time. Our pets surely take a piece of our hearts, while they are gracing our lives and when they leave us. Healing thoughts for Kendall.

  4. My three kitties send their purrs and kisses to your granddaughter on the loss of her beloved Duncan. He was well loved and pampered, I’m sure. It’s so hard to lose a fur baby, especially suddenly.

Love from Sunshine (the calico), Eleanor, Queen of Norway (Norwegian Forest cat) and General Catton

    • Oh how sweet Jeena…I’ll be sure to tell Kendall your furbabies send their sympathies. Thanks for stopping by!…B!

  5. What a sweet card! Our pets are our family and it is always painful when they pass on, sudden or over a long illness. I am sure your card will help ease the sadnessness.

    • OH I hope so Carol…she is devastated. This was her first pet to own and she feels so responsible…thanks for stopping by!…B!

  6. Billie I feel so bad for Kendall, it is so hard to lose a furry love that’s been part of her life. I have a Maine coon that is 14 yrs old & I dread the day comes for the rainbow bridge. I hope Kendall is easy on herself as she grieves Duncan.

    • She feel so responsible and it posting pictures of him. He really was a special cat. Hope your Maine coon lives forever!…B!

  7. Billie,
What a beautiful tribute to the loss of a precious little family member. Love the simplicity and softness of the card.
