OnStage Swap…

Planning for OnStage meant coming up with a “wow” swap.  I mean you are swapping with other very creative demos and you just want your swap to stand out a little.

So I agonized and sketched, ordered product, cut layers, masked, cut thinlit embellishments, embossed, added pearls and glimmer paper and hoped this card would stand up or out…

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate Cardstock plus Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
  • Ink:  Archival Basic Black, Craft White Ink and Smoky Slate
  • Stamps:  Thoughtful Branches, Totally Trees, Santa’s Sleigh and Gorgeous Grunge (snow)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  White Embossing Powder, Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits, Basic Pearls, Aqua Painter

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored, folded and burnished at 4-1/4″
  • The Basic Gray layer is 4 x 5-1/4″ attached to card front with Multipurpose Glue
  • The Smoky Slate layer is 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″.  Stamp sleigh in Basic Black.  Stamp on Post It Note and cut out with thinlit to use as a mask.  Mask sleigh and stamp trees twice in Basic Black.  Stamp Totally Trees stamp in Craft White Ink twice, remove mask and stamp “snow” with Gorgeous Grunge splat stamp in White Craft Ink.  Sprinkle with White Embossing Powder and heat.  Add Smoky Slate reinker with Aqua Painter to the sleigh.  Cut a piece of Dazzling Diamonds  Glimmer Paper 1″ x 5-1/8″ and cut in half lengthwise making curves.  Place at bottom of Smoky Slate layer with Multipurpose Glue.
  • Cut wreath from Old Olive cardstock with thinlit, stamp with wreath stamp in Old Olive.  Cut bow from Real Red and attach to wreath with glue dot.  Add to sleigh with glue dot.
  • Add this top layer to card front with Multipurpose Glue.

These will be given out at Brian King’s WCMD2016-Atlanta on Friday and at the main event on Saturday.  I made 100 and wish I could have made more.  But, I will be bringing home 100 swaps from other creative people to share with you!

Hope you are having a great day.  I will be posting from the event tomorrow “live” on my facebook page and with photos on my blog so be sure to stop by.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

I’ve got inky fingers…and I’m so HaPpY!

  1. Well I LOVE this one!!!! The “neutral” coloring just works so beautifully!!!!!! Cheers for another winner

    • Why, thank you Carla. The neutral with a pop of color was just what I was going for. It seemed to go over well at the event. Thanks for stopping by!…B!

  2. Hi Billie,
I am a SU demonstrator and live in Omak, WA. I’m 74 and now retired from being a newspaper publisher for 37 years. I love making and sharing cards and want to encourage people to send cards instead of those awful electronic greetings! Ugh.
I found your website a while ago and simply can’t wait everyday for your newest email. Your cards are wonderful; and I just love everything about your website. I chuckle at your daily B-isms and must admit to “stealing” some of them to share with my card-class ladies.
Just wanted you to know that I am a big fan!
    Judy Smith

    • Oh! Thanks so much Judy. I agree with your opinion on Electronic Greetings…ewwwww! I’m so happy you found my blog and enjoy it. Feel free to share anything you see!…B!

    • Hey Carol…seriously, when you go to an event as big as the Atlanta OnStage, there are so many beautiful projects. There is “eye candy” everywhere you look!…B!

    • Hey Michelle…yes, that bundle is retired and I did use just the trees from that set (one of the trees is from the set Totally Trees), but Lovely as a Tree stamp set could easily be substituted…everything else is current…B!

  3. OMG Billie – if this card doesn’t stand out and shout out ‘Look at Me!!” then all those other clever people need their eyes tested 😀 it’s an absolute knockout!!! How I wish NZ wasn’t so far away – I’d love to look over your shoulder when you are creating xx

    • Thank you Clare…and you may just get the chance to look over my shoulder while I create…stay tuned!…B!

    • I hope to share many of my swaps from Atlanta…so many beautiful creations…over this next week!…B!

  4. This is a gorgeous card, Billie. I love the slate sleigh with the black and white trees and the glimmer snow on the ground. So beautiful. I’m sure your card will shine among all the creatives there. Some day you’ll have to tell us how you mass produce 100 cards. I can barely make 4-6 and I’m bored. I’m sure today was total fun with Brian and Pam and tomorrow will be even more fun at the On Stage event getting to see what’s coming in the new catalogs. I had to laugh out loud at the “b-ism”. A friend of mine and I tease each other about wearing our tiara’s. Now I know that sometimes when they aren’t showing, we are wearing them on the inside. Too funny!!

    • Thanks HJ…the card was well received and I have so many beautiful cards to share with my peeps from all the swaps! Making multiples of any project tends to get tedious and I, too, bore easily. But the excitement of sharing makes up for that. The new catalog is awesome…I want it all!…B!

  5. Just lovely and “over the top” Thanks so much for so generously sharing your creative talents. You are an artist. I am no where near this level but maybe one day I will make an awesome card! My daughter Johanna Hetherington is at the Australia event and having a blast. Thanks Billie.

    • As you will see from my next post, “the BUDS” had a blast in Atlanta too. I truly love sharing my stamping creations with anyone who cares to look!…B!

  6. your card’s gorgeous, but I’d take any kind of card if I was lucky enough to swap w/you/ You’re a real pro!
