My Favorite Things…

Finally home from our baseball tournament adventures…those who participate will relate.

And waiting for me here at home was my first demo order from the annual catalog!  There are so many products I couldn’t wait to get my hands on…but a girl has to start somewhere…

Combining the stencil paste (awesome!) with water coloring and that gorgeous crinkled seam binding is the first project off my desk.

A glamour close up of the Micron Pen doodling…

A side view hoping to show dimension of paste…

and inside with more paste and one of my favorite sentiments.

Workspace in the studio is covered with so much new product.  It’s hard to organize when you want to use everything at once.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for today’s post…

Stuff

Paper:  Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Thick Whisper White Cardstock, plus water color paper.

Ink:  Archival Basic Black, Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Crumb Cake and Old Olive

Stamps:  Floral Phrases and Beautiful Bouquet (sentiments)

Tools ‘N Embellishments:  5/8″ Crinkled Seam Binding Berry Burst, Linen Thread, Embossing Paste, Pattern Party Decorative Masks, Palette Knives, Micron Pen, SU! Markers Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Old Olive and Lemon Lime Twist.

Digits

The Berry Burst base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored, folded and burnished at 5-1/2″

The Lemon Lime Twist layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ attached with SNAIL

The Thick Whisper White layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Use a small amount of paste and a drop of Crumb Cake.  Work color in with palette knife.  Tape stencil over top of cardstock with Washi Tape.  Apply paste with knife and spread to cover the top half of paper.  Remove stencil and clean stencil and knife with water.  Let paper layer dry. It’s pretty fast. If you want to add some stenciling to the inside Thick Whisper White layer, now would be the best time.  Tip:  If you have paste left over, create a new layer to work on later.

Cut a piece of water color paper 4″ x 2-1/4″.  Color rose stamp with marker starting with lightest color and adding darker shade last.  Spritz with water and stamp directly to water color paper.  Let dry.  Using a Micron Pen create details on stamped image and adding scribbles and dots.  Add this layer over the bottom of the stenciled layer.   Stamp sentiment in Archival Basic Black at bottom left corner of water color paper.

Add a piece of Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding around the place where the two layers meet using SNAIL.

Add combined layer to card front over Lemon Lime Twist.

Make a bow with several loops and tie center with Linen Thread.  Tie a piece of Linen Thread around seam binding on card and use this to tie bow to card front.  You can anchor the bow with glue dots.

Inside the Lemon Lime Twist layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Attach with SNAIL.

The Thick Whisper White layer is 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″.  Stamp sentiment at top right with Archival Basic Black.  Add this layer over Lemon Lime Twist layer.

Honestly the Stencil Paste is much easier to use than I thought.  Just be sure to rinse clean as soon as you have used it.  This paste opens up our deminsional creative opportunities to a whole new level.  And the seam binding has always been a favorite for me so I’m thrilled to have these new colors to work with.

I am thrilled to tell you the my Jameson’s baseball team coached by my son, Jeff, qualified to attend the State Championship Tournament in West Palm Beach in three weeks!!!  We had a grand time this past week and I thought I’d share a couple of the pictures…

A poster made by the tournament photographer showing several shots of Jameson playing.

Quietly waiting to take the field.

Lyla is Jameson’s biggest cheerleader…

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

it happens…

Hope you are inky and HaPpY today!

  1. BEAUTIFUL, Billie!! Love the paste, the pretty flowers, the big bow and your doodling! What a great card. I’m going to have to get my paste and stencils out and give it a go!

Love the pictures of Jameson and Lyla. It’s that time of year. Good job getting to the next round. I know you were thrilled to be there with them.

The “b-ism” is a hoot today. Although I’m not a screamer, some days screaming would feel good. Take care and take some deep breaths to come back to reality from your trip.

    • Oh I’ve been doing a lot of deep breathing HJ. My demo order was delivered while I was gone so I’ve been excited to dig in and see what I can come up with. I try not to look at Pinterest or any other place where I’ll see other’s work. So far, I’m loving everything! We had a great time on our trip. Baseball tournaments can be a roller coaster ride…emotionally exhausting. I needed that ‘B-ism’ today!…B!

  2. Absolutely exquisite. Did I miss the ID of the rose stamp? Just gorgeous. Love the Micron pen squiggles.

    • It’s listed under “stuff/stamps” and is from the Floral Phrases set. Thanks for stopping by!…B!

  3. Wow! Gorgeous, Billie! Love the ribbon, the paste, the stamp and the doodling! I gotta have the paste!

    • There should be a trophy for those in the stands…it can be so hard to sit there (and keep your lips zipped)! I’m so glad you liked the card…B!
