Framed Seasons…

This framed cork board is one of my favorite things in the kitchen.  Each season the art changes…and sometimes there’s new art for a special holiday or birthday.

The frame itself came with the corkboard (from Hobby Lobby) and the opening is a little odd, 8″ x 9″…but I just cut my watercolor paper in this case to fit.  Its really easy to put together and I just wish I could capture with the camera all the glitter on the trees and ice.

Here’s how to make this little framed piece of art…

Cut your watercolor paper to fit your frame (here it’s 8″ x 9″).  With an Aqua Painter and watered down Tomboy Multipurpose Glue, add splatters on the top 2/3 of the paper.  Sprinkle with Dazzling Diamonds.  Let dry.

Wet the paper by spraying or brushing with water.  Using a large round brush touch the paper here and there with reinker and let the water do the work for you.  I used Night of Navy reinker and Pool Party.  You want to leave white space at the bottom for the skating rink and leave some in the sky too.  Let dry.

Once dry (you can heat it if you are impatient…who me?…yes, YOU!) stamp with Basic Black using the Lovely As A Tree set above the white.  Make a couple of rows of trees that are not identical.  Your background is complete.

Stamp the two trees from Lovely As A Tree on Thick Whisper White or watercolor paper and “fussy cut”.

The skating couple is from a retired SU! set called Winter Post.  I stamped them on watercolor paper and used markers to color them.  Fussy cut and covered with Crystal Effects.  You REALLY need to let this one dry!

Add your trees to background with dimensionals and the skating couple too.  Dilute the glue again and brush over trees, ice, and the two rows of trees.  Sprinkle with Dazzling Diamonds.  It’s sparkly!

We are all busy making cards and tags and wrapping…oh my goodness it makes me nuts to think about it.  But, you know what?  Every once in a while it’s good to stop and savor this time of year and make something…just for you…that you can bring back out year after year.  Be good to yourself…

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

I love this one…

Are you HaPpY?…come get inky with me!

  1. Your changing picture is a great idea and this current picture is very pretty. I had to laugh out loud when I saw your “b-ism” today. Sometimes they get on your last nerve!! But then can be so sweet the next day.

    • Thank you HJ. I have four other scenes that I use with this frame and I love, changing,it out. Wish I could find the time to create even more.
I know what you mean about that last nerve. Mine has been trampled on lately…B
