Enjoy Today…

There’s no other statement more poignant as “Enjoy Today”.  If we could just turn our worrying minds off and enjoy just this day and the moment…

The card today is a personal favorite not just because it has a water colored background and a fall theme (my favorite season!) but because of the sentiment…

The background was made using an acrylic block and Daffodil Delight reinker on water color paper.

Leaves were cut from a piece of watercolor paper treated with dry pigment sprayed with water.  The pieces were intentionally left in smallest leaf.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White and Real Red Cardstock plus water color paper
  • Ink:  Daffodil Delight and Archival Basic Black
  • Stamps:  Vintage Leaves and Climbing Orchids (sentiment)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Copper Embossing Powder, Linen Thread, Acrylic Block “E”, Leaflets Framelits,  Seasonal Layers Framelits (smallest leaf), Aqua Painter or large round paint brush and Ken Oliver’s Color Burst Pigments

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″.  Score, fold and burnish at 5-1/2″
  • The Real Red layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ attached with SNAIL.
  • In order to have the water color leaves to cut out, you will need to prepare a piece of water color paper with Ken Oliver’s Color Burst or any other way you want to add color.  You could definitely use reinkers.  With the Color Burst you spritz the paper and blow the dry pigment on the paper and let them blend together.  It is amazing to watch.  You can always spritz more to move the color or add more pigment.  Once dry, cut out your leaves with Leaflets Framelits and Seasonal Layers Framelits.  I left the pieces in the smaller leaf but you could always remove them for a different look.
  • The water color layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Color your “E” Acrylic block with Daffodil Delight marker and spritz with water or drop a few drops of reinker on the block and color with an Aqua Painter then “stamp” the block on the water color paper.  Hold for a few seconds and lift.  I like to let the color dry naturally, but you can use your heat gun.
  • Once dry, stamp the sentiment at the top center with Archival Basic Black.
  • Add splatters of water with your Aqua Pen or a brush, sprinkle with Copper EP and heat.  When you use water with Embossing Powder it takes a little longer to melt…just sayin’
  • Add your leaves with multipurpose glue.
  • Add this layer over the Real Red layer with multipurpose glue and weight the paper with something heavy to hold it in place.  Water color paper warps so you need a good strong adhesive.
  • Add linen thread bow to stems.  YouTube Video on bow here.

Today is my first Skype rehearsal for OnStage presentation.  I’m a little nervous…

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Inky fingers will make you HaPpY!
