Archive for Invitations

Foxy Thank You…

If you have been following along, there have been several posts related to the anticipated arrival of our newest addition to the family in March.  Today I’ll share the set of “thank you” notes made to coordinate with the theme of my g’daughter’s nursery and shower including the invitations she and I worked on together…

Using her “woodland” theme, here are the note cards…

and a close up…

I will tell you I did use the MISTI tool to stamp the sentiment and tree at the same time.  Stampin’ Up! doesn’t carry a similar tool (maybe in the future?) but it has made this project so much easier and faster not mention perfectly aligned and stamped.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Paper:  Whisper White 3-1/2″ x 5″ notecards, plus Thick Whisper White Cardstock
  • Ink:  Pear Pizazz, Archival Basic Black and Calypso Coral
  • Stamps:  Foxy Friends and All Things Thanks
  • Tools:  Micron Black .005 Pen, Window Sheet

  • Stamp the tree at lower left corner in Pear Pizazz and sentiment centered top in Archival Basic Black.
  • Cut a piece of Window Sheet 2-5/8″ x 4″.  Center this sheet over card front and mark in pencil all four corners.  Using the .005 Black Micron Pen (you could substitute the Project Life Journaling Pen) draw the loops at each corner then connect with wavy line.  Where images are met, skip the border line and start again after image.
  • Stamp fox on scrap Thick Whisper White CS in Calypso Coral and face features in Archival Basic Black.  Fussy cut the image and attach to card front overlapping the tree with dimensionals.

Hopefully I can share pictures of the occasion with you early next week.

So today is Valentines…do you have any special plans?  Sweetums and I are cooking a meal together and maybe sharing something very chocolate!

Look what is blooming in my front yard!…

These are so dainty…maybe 5″ tall.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

all.  the.  time.

And keep those fingers inky…you’ll be HaPpY!

ETA 3/20/17…

That’s right…estimated time of arrival is March 20th!  I’m talking about a baby addition to our family that will make some aunts, some uncles, grandmother and father.  For me…great grandmother!  Sweetums and I are over the moon excited to meet this little guy who has already been named Henry David Young.

So it seemed natural that I would help my granddaughter, Kendall, with some baby shower invitations.  We went through a mock-up and tweaks here and there until she was happy with the design.  Here’s what we came up with…

Isn’t that the cutest?  Kendall has chosen woodland forest theme for her nursery and decorated it herself.  It is just the sweetest thing and perfect for a little guy to come home to.

Here’s a peek inside…

You can only imagine I’m sure,  how much fun these were to make.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits

  • Paper:  Crumb Cake 3-1/2″ x 5″ Notecards/Envelopes, Thick Whisper White, Dapper Denim, Smoky Slate and Old Olive Cardstock, plus Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Paper
  • Ink:  Archival Basic Black, Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso
  • Stamps:  Always An Adventure
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Outdoor Adventure Framelits, Rotating Alaphabet Stamp

  • The Thick Whisper White layer on front panel of Crumb Cake notecard is 3-3/8″ x 4-7/8″ attached with SNAIL
  • The Dapper Denim layer is 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″.  Cut Clouds at top of this layer then attach over Whisper White layer with SNAIL
  • Cut trees from Old OLive and mountains from Smoky Slate.  Add mountains then trees with multipurpose glue.  Cut “snow” for mountains from Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Paper and add to tops of three mountains with multipurpose glue.
  • Stamp on scrap Whisper White the bear in Early Espresso and cut with coordinating framelit.  Using sponge mat and rounded end of pen or piercer tool, lay bear face down and soften fibers in paper to give a rounded effect to bear.  Add to lower right side with dimensional.
  • Stamp road sign in Crumb Cake on scrap Whisper White CS and cut with coordinating framelit.  Set Rotating Alaphabet Stamp with the word “baby”, then stamp with Archival Basic Black Ink on top of road sign.  Add to card front at lower left side with multipurpose glue.
  • Inside the first layer is Dapper Denim and measures 3-3/8″ x 4-7/8″.  Attached with SNAIL.
  • The Whisper White layer measures 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″.  The lines were stamped with a really old retired SU! stamp.  You could type this information up on your computer and print out to add to the inside.  Mine were handwritten with invitation information.  The word “shower” was set up just like the “baby” on the card front with the Rotating stamp.  Cut arrow from Dapper Denim scraps and add with multipurpose glue.

Here are a couple of shots of Henry’s room so you can see how these invitations imitate the décor…

So with eight weeks to go, we are all sitting on “ready!”

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look today…

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

And to stay HaPpY …you need to be inky!

Gold On Gold…

So yesterday I told you I had made a mistake on the card posted, but challenged you to find it…

Here’s that card…

The “mistake” was made while embossing the gold pine boughs.  Some of the VersaMark Ink and Gold EP got on the Gold Foil and made a nice impression where I didn’t want it.  Those impressions were covered up with the white pine boughs.  But I loved the effect of the Gold EP on the Gold Foil.

So I made this…

and loved it!  So I shared this technique of embossing on Foil with a live video on facebook today.  This card is fairly simple and fast to make and would be an excellent mass produced card.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White Cardstock, Gold Foil
  • Ink:  VersaMark and Basic Black Archival or StazOn Black
  • Stamps:  Christmas Pines and Greetings From Santa
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  5/8″ Gold Satin Ribbon, Linen Thread, Gold Embossing Powder, Adhesive Strips

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored, folded and burnished at 5-1/2″
  • The top Thick Whisper White layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • The Gold Foil layer is 3-1/2″ x 4-7/8″.  Stamp pine boughs and pine cones with VersaMark leaving room at top of this layer for bow and at bottom for sentiment.  Sprinkle with Gold EP and heat from the back of Gold Foil paper.  Stamp greeting at lower left corner (I only used part of this sentiment)  Let this ink dry.  Make double loops with sating ribbon and tie off in center with Linen Thread.  Add to top of pine boughs and pine cones with Glue Dots.
  • Add Gold Foil layer to Thick Whisper White layer with Multipurpose Glue.  Add these two layers to card front with Adhesive Strips.
  • Inside there is a Gold Foil layer 3-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ with a Thick Whisper White layer 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ on top.
  • How easy was that?  And such an elegant Christmas card…

Tomorrow’s post will give you a choice for the card front…Clean, crisp watercolor or sparkly, snow scene.  Be sure to stop by.

I wouldn’t be a good SU! Demo if I didn’t mention occasionally that all the products I use can be purchased at my online store…just click on the “Shop Now” star in the right column and your stampin’ goodies will be delivered to your door!

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

never quit.

Hope you are inky…and HaPpY!

To Hug ‘N To Hold…

Today’s post was made with two really special people in mind who are wonderful friends and used to be neighbors that are celebrating their wedding anniversary the first of July.  Hope they like it…

I just couldn’t help myself!  Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White Cardstock, Dazzling Diamonds and Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper
  • Ink:  Basic Black, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate
  • Stamps:  Baby Bear
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Rhinestones, 3/4″  and 1″ Round Punch, Itty Bitty Flower Punch (retired)

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″
  • The Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ attached to card front with multipurpose glue
  • The top Thick Whisper White layer is 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″.  Stamp the bear on post it note and “fussy cut” to use for a mask.  Stamp the top bear with Smoky Slate that has been stamped off, the second layer with straight Smoky Slate and the third layer with Basic Gray.  Cover with mask and stamp the second bear in the same sequence.  Remove mask.  Awwww…
  • Using an Aqua Painter and reinker in lid of Smoky Slate, add a shadow under both bears.
  • Stamp the bow from this set on the back of Blushing Bride Glimmer paper and “fussy cut” the bow without the two ends.  Add to bear with glue dot.
  • Punch a 3/4″ circle from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  With the 1″ circle, punch over the 3/4″ hole in the Glimmer paper to make a 1″ circle frame.  Cut this frame in half.
  • Punch three Itty Bitty Flowers in Whisper White.  Using the blunt end of Piercing Tool and your sponge mat, push the blunt end into the flower to give dimension.  I colored the Rhinestones with permanent marker in pink and added to 3/4″ circle with multipurpose glue.  Add to the second bear with glue dots.
  • Punch two flowers and layer with a glue dot.  Add Rhinestone to center.  Glue half of the 1″ circle frame with multipurpose glue to make a headband.  Add flower with glue dot to headband.
  • Stamp one half of the sentiment on the stamp by inking with Basic Black marker only the words you need.  I used a mini MISTI to stamp this sentiment here and the other half on the inside of card.
  • Inside there is a 3-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ layer of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ layer of Thick Whisper White on top stamped with the second part of the stamp “from this day forward”.

See…this baby bear isn’t just for baby cards!

So tomorrow Sweetums leaves for his trip to South Korea to see our daughter and son-in-love.  While there he will attend the Change of Command ceremony for Jay.  I hope to share some photos of the event later as this is a big deal for him.

Hope to see you right back here tomorrow!

Just A Note…

The Floral Boutique Suite on pages 76 and 77 of the new catalog took my breath.  How gorgeous is that?  And that Designer Series Paper…seriously?  There will be many, but here’s my first post with this set…

Here’s a closer shot of the envelope and notecard…

So I made a set of six and then placed them in a coordinating box…

I’m thinking this would be a great gift for so many occasions…birthday, Christmas, showers.  And I know the DSP leads us to use the color Night of Navy or Dapper Denim, but can you see this in Flirty Famingo or Peekaboo Peach?  Oh my goodness…I’ve got to get busy.

The note card is pretty straightforward, but I’ll give you dimensions on the box too.  Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Paper:  Whisper White and Dapper Denim Cardstock, plus Floral Boutique DSP
  • Ink:  Dapper Denim
  • Stamps:  Floral Phrases and Flourishing Phrases
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Solid Night of Navy Baker’s Twine

  • The notecard is Dapper Denim 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ with a Thick Whisper White layer 5-1/4″ x 4″ stamped with Dapper Denim ink at top and bottom and attached with multipurpose glue.  Make six.
  • The envelope is stamped on the left side in Dapper Denim.  Make six.
  • The box is made from Thick Whisper White Cardstock and cut 6-1/2″ x 10″.  On 6-1/2″ side score at 1″ and 5-1/2″.  On the 10″ side score at 6″ and 7″.  Cut tabs to first score line.  Burnish all score lines.  Use tear tape to assemble.  The inside of your box should measure 4-1/2″ x 6″ with a 3″ cover flap.
  • Cut (2) 7/8″ x 5-7/8″ DSP strips for sides.  Cut (2) 7/8″ x 4-3/8″ DSP strips for top and bottom edges.  Attach with multipurpose glue.  Cut a piece of DSP 4-3/8″ x 2-7/8″ for the front.  Stamp Floral in Dapper Denim on scrap Whisper White and “fussy cut”.  Glue to front flap with dimensionals.
  • Add several rounds of Baker’s Twine and tie in front.
  • Your box is done.  Place in a cello bag with some “grass” in the bottom and tie the top with ribbon.  Add a “for you” tag and decide who the lucky recipient will be!

So are you enjoying your weekend?  We have hit 100 degrees here today.  I do not enjoy this weather.  This week has been getting up at 6 a.m. to get my walk in before the sun is up.  Ugh!  I have to bring Zoe home a third of the way because she has little short legs and it must be extra hot next to the pavement for her.

We REALLY need rain here too.  Too much in one place and not nearly enough in another…so it goes!  End of whining…

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

“The Littles” Valentines…

“The Littles” are big on making art pieces and usually make their own Valentines to give out at school so I didn’t want to disappoint them with anything store bought…other than a stuffed animal.  There are already several of the Pyramid Pals boxes filled with Hershey Kisses ready for them, so their Valentines cards will coordinate perfectly.

Here is Lyla’s card…

Awww…he is so cute!  A very similar card was shown earlier this week and then I found this sentiment in the new set called Greatest Greetings and thought it would be perfect for their Valentines cards.  The Blushing Bride glimmer heart will be perfect for Lyla (she loves bling as much as I do!)

Here is the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Paper:  3 1/2″ x 5″ Whisper White notecard, Garden Green and Whisper White cardstock plus
  • Ink:  Basic Black
  • Stamps:  Tin of Cards (border), Greatest Greetings (sentiment) and Pyramid Pals
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper, Pyramid Pals Thinlets Dies, Heart Punch

  • The Garden Green layer is 3 3/8″ x 4 7/8″ attached to the front of the Whisper White notecard with adhesive
  • The Whisper White layer is 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″.  Attached to Garden Green layer with adhesive.
  • Stamp border and sentiment in Basic Black.
  • Use one triangle from the Pyramid Pals box for body.  Cut ears from a coordinating DSP (remember to turn the paper over for one of the ears)  Stamp and cut trunk from box DSP.  Stamp and cut eyes from Whisper White cardstock.  Cut grass from Garden Green cardstock.
  • Add ears with adhesive to box triangle then to card front with adhesive.  Add eyes with pieces of dimensional.  Add trunk with multipurpose glue or glue dots.  Add grass by cutting a strip of dimensional.  Punch and add glimmer heart with dimensional.

If you have kids you craft for or with, these Pyramid Pals will surely come in handy.  I’m thinking of having a crafting session with “the littles” using this bundle…no telling what kind of animals they will create.

This weekend there will be two classes here at Rambling Rose Studio and the plans include a little Valentine celebration.  I’ve been pretty busy creating things I think my peeps will enjoy.  It’s always exciting to me after all this time to be able to get together with friends and just stamp.  Of course, throwing in a few surprises and a little chocolate doesn’t hurt either!

Peek-A-Boo Elephant…

Taking a break from the Rose Wonder set today to show you a baby card using the Playful Pals stamp set and Pyramid Pal Thinlets…

Awwww…isn’t he the cutest little thing?  One of my very best friends is expecting her first grandson in March.  She was the one who always said “I don’t want grandchildren.”  She has worked with children all her professional life and felt they were her grandchildren.

I’d shake my head at her and say, “You have no idea what your are saying!”  Now she’s gone all gaga on us…

Today is the baby shower and the framed animals posted earlier this week is one of my gifts.  The new lil’ guy’s nursery is in an animal theme as are all my gifts so this works perfectly!

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Paper:  3 1/2″ x 5″ Whisper White notecard, Garden Green cardstock plus Cherry On Top DSP Stack
  • Ink:  Basic Gray and Basic Black
  • Stamps:  Playful Pals, Tin of Cards (border squiggles) and Sweet Sayings (sentiment)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Pyramid Pals Thinlets Dies

The base card is 3 1/2″ x 5″

  • The Garden Green layer is 3 3/8″ x 4 7/8″
  • The Thick Whisper White layer is 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″.  Stamp border first.  Cut out one side of pyramid box and cut off one triangle.  Cut ears from contrasting paper…remember, turn the paper over to cut one of the ears!  Stamp the trunk with Basic Gray.  I used tear tape for three sides of triangle, stuck down at the bottom only so the ears could be placed correctly, then stuck down the triangle sides.  Add trunk with glue dots or multipurpose glue.   Stamp sentiment at top with Basic Black.  The grass was cut and placed down with a dimensional strip.
  • Now stamp the eyes and cut out with thinlets.   Place with a piece of dimensional.  Is he cute or what?

You know how I went nutso making the pyramid animals…now there will be lots of kiddo cards with animals for Valentines, birthdays, etc…I love my job!

Hope you enjoyed this post and also the weekend…

Oh, Hello…

Are you as in love with this little FREE stamp set as I am?  What is it about this little chubby chick?

Here’s another card using the Honeycomb Happiness set…

See how they look all dressed up in Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper?  There’s a little masking here too.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White and Real Red cardstock, Love Blossoms DSP
  • Ink:  Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizazz and Pumpkin Pie
  • Stamps:  Honeycomb Happiness
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Honeycomb Embellishments, post it notes

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″
  • Stamp the chick on post it paper being sure to include the sticky part on the back.  Cut just the chick out (not the feet).
  • Stamp the first chick in the center of the card and add mask over her.  Now stamp two more chicks to the left and right of the center chick.  Remove mask.
  • Stamp the balloons for each chick.  Color the balloon bows Melon Mambo.
  • Stamp the chicks on three different dsp patterned papers and “fussy cut” each chick excluding the feet.  Attach the left and right chicks with adhesive and lastly the center one.  Stamp the chick beak three times on Real Red cardstock and “fussy cut”.  Add a beak to each chick with glue dots.
  • Using your Pear Pizazz marker color some grounding at their feet.  Stamp sentiment in Basic Black.
  • When mailing a card with these little honeycombs, I print on one side “peel and stick”.  Then I remove the paper from the other side and add to card front.  This way the receiver of the card can open the balloons.  Makes a cute interactive card.

Hope you enjoyed this little card…I’ve been excited to show you this one. It’s been kept propped up on my desk because it just makes me smile when I look at it…

I finished earlier this month the book In Order to Live written by a young girl that escaped with her mother from North Korea in 2006.  It is haunting.  Made much more interesting to me because of my trip to South Korea this past October.  When I heard reported on the news today that January 18th was the “saddest day” of the year (because of the bad weather, resolutions going by the wayside and bills due from the holidays)…I laughed.  With all the blessings we all enjoy in this country…how could we possibly have a sad day?  I totally recommend the book.

Welcome New Neighbor…

In our little community we have a welcoming committee on which I serve.  When someone new moves in, a basket of goodies and information is personally delivered as a welcome gift.

Here is a new card made to be included in the “Welcome Basket” with a handwritten note…

Of course I realize the house is a retired set, but everything else is from Sheltering Tree.  It’s just so perfect for this note sized card.

Because I needed to make several of these cards, I did use the MISTI.  It made short work and no wasted cards of this project.

Would you like the Stuff ‘N Digits?  Here you go…

  • Paper:  Crumb Cake 3 1/2″ x 5″ notecards plus Whisper White and Sky Blue cardstock
  • Ink:  Wasbi Green, Sky Blue, Real Red, Memento Black, Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight
  • Stamps:  Sheltering Tree and Life’s Adventures
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Sky Blue Cotton Twine

  • The Sky Blue layer is 4 7/8″ x 3 3/8″
  • The Whisper White layer is 4 3/4″ x 3 1/4″

Oh Happy Day!…

Now this card is perfect for…well, lots of celebrations.  I love when that happens.

Just file it under “All Occasion”…

Today’s card is made with two different stamp sets that work well together.  In fact I find myself using the Build A Bouquet much more often on anything but a bouquet.

Here’s today’s card…

That color combo will wake you up in the morning!  Today just felt like a “rip roaring” day to me.  Now you see why I said this is the perfect “all occasion” card.  We all have lots of happy days to celebrate.
