Archive for Easter – Page 2

Easter Basket Fun…

Starting to think toward Spring and all the fun of Easter baskets…so I took advantage of SU!’s Mini Egg Cartons on page 18 of the Occasions Catalog.  Do you realize these will be gone at the end of May?

Here’s one of the cartons all dressed up for Easter…

Now I didn’t color this carton, but have colored others (which I’ll show you in the next days) with a spritzer filled 3/4 full with rubbing alcohol and ten or so drops of reinker.  They look adorable as you will see, but I also love this natural color too.

A little close up shot…

And inside eggs filled with sweets for the sweet…

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for this one…

Stuff

How cute is that?  I love this little carton!

We are having a really spring-like all-day rain and it’s perfect for a day spent in the studio.  I’ve been playing with several new ideas and technique I can’t wait to share with you so be sure to stop back by…

Or as they say here in the South, “Y’all come back now!”

Mixing It Up #GDP076

Today’s project will be entered into the Global Design Challenge #076.  The challenge is to case Kylie Bertucci’s project in any way…card design, color combo or using the same stamp set.

Here’s Kylie’s  card…

So I flipped her design and came up with this…

I”ve been dying to get ink on this stamp set!  Isn’t it cute?

It’s a little bit retro which is why I was attracted to it initially.

The mixing bow and mixer were colored with Water Color Pencils, smoothed with the white pencil and covered in Thin Tipped Glue before “fussy cutting”…

Inside the mitt was stamped on the Designer Series Paper and “fussy cut”…

This was a fun challenge to take part in.  If you would like the info to participate (there’s a new one each week), here’s the link.

Now for the Stuff ‘N Digits

  • Stamps:  Perfect Mix
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:   Lace Doilies, 1/4″ Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Linen Thread, Thin Tipped Glue

Digits

  • The Craft base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored, folded and burnished at 5-1/2″.  Stamp card front with mitt and Archival Basic Black ink.
  • The Sweet Sugar Plum layer is 3-3/8″ x 5-1/2″
  • The Succulent Garden DSP is 3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ attached to Sugar Plum layer with SNAIL.  Add a band of the 1/4″ Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon 1-1/2″ from left side with SNAIL.  Make several loops with ribbon and tie center with Linen Thread.  Add over band of ribbon with glue dots.  Add this layer to card front 1/4″ from bottom with SNAIL.

  • Inside the Sweet Sugar Plus layer is 3-3/8″ x 4-3/8″ attached to card with SNAIL.
  • The Thick Whisper White layer is 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ attached to Sweet Sugar Plum layer with SNAIL
  • Stamp the mitt on the DSP and “fussy cut”.  Add at bottom right corner of layers with SNAIL

Well…it’s Friday again!  You know what that means.  It’s “date night” at my house which means dinner out and maybe a movie if we can find one we haven’t seen.

Thanks so much for stopping in today.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

Painted Posies…

I love nature and flowers in particular.  If you flipped through this blog (there’s over 1,000 posts!) you’d find a large percentage of the entries were flowers of one kind or another.

Today’s post highlights my favorite stamping technique (masking) and what many readers call a “Billie Bow”…

A little water coloring (also a fav)…

a close up…

Oooo!  that bow…(I’ll give you a video link in the directions)

There’s no  sentiment yet as I felt this card would work for several occasions and I’d hold out on that part for now.

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White, plus water color paper and Urban Underground Designer Series Paper
  • Ink:  Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede
  • Stamps:  You’ve Got This, By the Tide (retired) background script
  • Tools ‘N Embellisments:  Linen Thread, Aqua Painter, Sponges, Zig Clear Color Real Brush, MISTI and Low Tack Artist Tape

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored, folded and burnished at 5-1/2″
  • The designer series paper layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ attached to card front with SNAIL
  • The water color paper layer is 3-3/4″ x 5″.  Using one color at a time I started with the stem/leaves with the lightest green in my set and stamped the outline.  Leave this stamp positioned on the MISTI.  Using my Aqua Painter with a small amount of water, brush over the lines of the leaves and stems to move the color inside the lines. You can leave some white highlights here and there if you like.  Let dry.  Ink the stamp with a darker green and repeat with Aqua Painter but do not completely cover the lighter green.  Let dry.  Stamp again with the darker green.   Cut a mask for this set of leaves and stem from Post It note and apply while working on the second steam and leaves.
  • The blue flower was stamped in a light lavender and treated like the stems.  Then stamped again with the darker blue and pulled some of that color into the lavender leaving some highlights.  Let dry then stamp again with the dark blue.  Cut a mask for this flower from a post it note before stamping the second flower.  The same procedure to color the second flower.  I started with yellow and followed up with red.  Remove mask…magic happened!
  • Using Low Tack Artist Tape (I’ve tried them all and this works best for me) tape a background area leaving part of the flowers and stem outside the border.  Sponge background areas with Daffodil Delight and edges with Soft Suede lightly.  Add script with Soft Suede stamped off once.  Splatter background with Soft Suede marker.  Remove tape (this tape can be reused).
  • The water color paper was trimmed maybe a 1/4″ on the right side to expose part of a petal.  You don’t have to do this step, but I like it!
  • The Linen Thread was crisscrossed and attach at back of water color paper with SNAIL.  The bow was made and attached with glue dots.  A video to make this bow can be seen here.

This card was so much fun to make…I enjoyed trying this technique.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

yep.

Window Box Surprise…

Some of you may have had trouble accessing this site yesterday as I left it open on my computer and didn’t realize the problem until I tried to log on myself.  So sorry…

But for those of you who did log on and for all your sweet comments about my daughter’s HaPpY mail…thanks a bunch.  She had a little foot surgery yesterday and just wasn’t feeling herself.

Today’s post was just the most fun to make…and so easy!

I’m loving this framelit!  This whole project took me maybe 20 minutes.

The flowers are from the Special Reason Buncle…

I punched every other side panel for more light to escape…

Previously I posted a white box with a flower on top (you can scroll down to find it if you missed it) and I have plans for a box for a baby shower.  But wouldn’t these be pretty on a dinner table or at a wedding reception/shower?  Seriously the possibilities are endless.

Here are the ordering numbers if you’d like to pop over and order any of these supplies from pages 42-43 in the Occasions Catalog by clicking on the “shop now” star to the left…Special Reason Bundle (flowers) #144720 and Window Shopping Bundle (box) #142726.  Questions?  Leave me a comment…

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Bermuda Bay and Thick Whisper White Cardstock
  • Ink:  Pear Pizazz, Daffodil Delight, More Mustard, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay
  • Stamps:  Special Reason
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Stylish Stems Framelits, Window Box Thinlits 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon and Linen Thread.  The tea light was bought at Hobby Lobby.

Digits:

  • Cut your Bermuda Bay cardstock 6″ x 11″.  Lay the box framelit to the short edge, place one of the side panel and the large top panel inside the box panel and cut.  Cut another box from the same sheet of cardstock.  It just fits!  Cut off two side panel tabs on ONE of the box pieces.  Lay the pieces facing in opposite direction (meaning the large top/bottom faces one direction and opposite for the other piece)  Glue with Multipurpose Glue the side tab to connect the top to the bottom.  Burnish score lines on the bottom (pick either one) and glue the two tabs that will connect the bottom to the side panels on both sides of this piece and repeat for the top.  You will have one tab that just tucks in so that the top of the box will open.  Insert tea light and close tab.
  • Stamp flowers on scrap of Whisper White CS with Pool Party tapping edges with a sponge and Bermuda Bay before stamping.  Use Daffodil Delight and More Mustard for smaller flower.  Stamp leaves in Pear Pizazz.  Use Framelits to cut out all in one pass through Big Shot.  Attach to side of box with dimensionals and Multipurpose Glue.
  • Make box with several loops of ribbon and tie off in center with Linen Thread.  I used hot glue for the attachment of the bow.

You are going to love this set for so many reason and in every color!

It’s Friday!  Hope your weekend is just what you need.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…
