Boxing A Hostess Gift…

In about a week or so I have a friend who is hosting a party and wanted to give her a special thank you gift.  This girl has so many friends so I thought a box of assorted handmade cards might just be the perfect gift for her.

Here’s the box…

Inside I have placed four note cards from the Watercolor Designer Notes Set with varying sentiments.  I’ll show all the cards to you, but today I wanted to talk about the card box which is easily made with the envelope punch board.  You can use your punch board to make any sized box  based on your envelope size.  Also, the belly band and tag are made with the new Scallop Tag Topper Punch, decorated and tied with a pretty ribbon.  Let me just say I am a tool person…but if you can use a tool several different ways, I have to have it.  And that’s the case with these two tools.  I plan to show several ways to use both in future posts…so stay tuned in!

Tomorrow I’ll start showing the cards inside, but today here are the Stuff ‘N Digits for this box…

  • Paper:  Pistachio Green and Whisper White cardstock, Watercolor Wonder DSP
  • Stamps:  Peaceful Petals
  • Ink:  Black

  • Add 1 1/4″ to the envelope size on the punch board.  This box was for a set of 3 1/2″ x 5″ cards.  The punch board read 7 1/4″ square of cardstock, so I cut my cardstock 8 1/2″ square.  Add 1/8″ to the score number.  The punch board said for this card size to punch and score at 3 1/8″ so I punched and scored at 3 1/4″, then score and punch one inch over at 4 1/4″.  Line up your score lines on the other three sides, punch and score.  Round all your points on the corner rounder punch of the punch board.  Crease all folds.  Cut out the small squares at the top flap of your box.  Put together with sticky strip and decorate with belly band.  Cut your belly band cardstock 2″ x 9″ and the dsp layer slightly smaller.  Tie with your favorite ribbon.

This may sound complicated but once you’ve done it, you’ve got it.  Check back this week for a video on this box.  You can do this ’cause you are awesome!

Here’s your “B-ism” for today:  “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning…but anyone can start today and make a new ending!”

Hope you are happy, healthy and inky…
