Baby Linton…

A friend was blessed with a new grandson named Linton.  To share in her family’s happiness I made a small gift for his nursery.

His nursery is done is blues and greys…

A glamour close up

An ombre effect on the letters add interest.  The background is a mottled grey.

And the sweet animals from A Little Wild stamp set were perfect.

Couldn’t find a box that would fit so it’s just wrapped and tied with a sweet tag.

The idea for this framed piece entered my head and all I needed was the perfect frame.  I’m not sure this one is perfect, but it is cute and the one I had in my head is not in this town!  Believe me, I looked…and looked!

If you’d like to make a similar piece here’s a couple of things to keep in mind.

Get your water colors out!  There’s so much you can do with them.

The 140 lb cold press paper was cut to fit the back of the mat.  Dampen the paper and apply your color with a large round brush.  Keep a tissue in your hand and dab here and there to remove some color to give a mottled look.

Cut a piece of water color paper wide and long enough for the letters and paint it the color of your choice.  Add the color along the bottom then dampen your brush and move the color up so that the bottom is more saturated with color than the top.  Let dry.  Cut out with Large Letters Framelits.  Cut out a second set of letters from water color paper using the Multipurpose Sticky Sheets.  Layer the water colored and plain letters together.

Add Artist tape across your background for a base line.  Add letters with multipurpose glue.

Stamp animals on water color paper with Archival Basic Black.  Give the animals a light coat of the color you want and let dry.  Tissue places that would normally round.  Add shadows with the same color around edges.  Add a little pink color to cheeks.  Let dry and cut with Framelits.

Add critters with dimensionals and multipurpose glue.

Put all layers inside frame and enjoy!

We have been out of town this week for some family and friend gatherings and are heading home today.  I’ll be back in the studio tomorrow.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

The fireflies have arrived here in the South…

Stay inky…be HaPpY!

  1. What a cute project for Linton and his family! Love the large letters of his name with the animals. So cute!

Today’s “b-ism” is great. I have never heard that quote, but love it. Enjoy your day, Billie.

    • This couple has waited some time to welcome an addition to their family and I just wanted to make them something sweet and personal. I didn’t get to see him on my visit as he was still in nice, but hope to meet him next trip!…B!

    • Congrats to the family and best wishes for a healthy, happy baby, Linton. What a sweet gift for them. It will be something he keeps forever. Everything you do is classy and always very thoughtful. Safe travels on your way home. I hope your trip was everything you expected and more. Take care.

    • We had a great time thanks HJ. The kids still like to spend time with their g’parents…but it won’t be long before they would rather be with their friends…ugh! I may share a pic or two in next week’s posts…B!
