Oh my goodness this used to be my most favorite day of the year….loved playing jokes on my family and friends (some were doozies). I bet they miss me doing that, but I grew up. I can just hear them saying, “Now, that really is an April Fools joke!”
In November I posted my oldest granddaughter had come for a visit (she lives in Nashville) and we spent a whole day playing in my studio. She definitely has an artful eye. We each created a calendar to be used this year and this is my April page…(wish I had her calendar to show you, it was so different from mine and so pretty)
We bought these blank calendars in a Paper Source store in Nashville (the paper is water color paper with the printed months already on them) and used SU! stamps and supplies to make each month our own art work. The plastic container it comes packed in also serves as a stand. For me, each month when I change the page I think of that freezing cold day spent in the studio with Kendall drinking hot coffee and just playing the day away. A calendar like this would be a great Christmas gift reminding someone of you each month.
This page was done using the stamp set Nature Walk and Backyard Basics (bird), and using markers and blender pens to add subtle color. The embossing was done with the Needlepoint Border EF that I had inked with Pistachio Green before embossing. When you are working on a project as a gift or for yourself, it’s fun to drag out all your stamps sets and just stamp away. If you have someone who also enjoys stamping with you…well, that is a blessing.
When the 2015 calendars come out this year, think of someone you’d like to surprise with a gift like this. It’s a fun project that can be made ahead of the holidays and if you keep it simple, you’ll finish in no time.
Here’s your “B-ism” for today…”A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot and realize how blessed you are.”
Inky fingers will make you happy…
