Antique Rose #TGIFC96

Today’s post is answering the challenge at TGIFChallenges to create a card inspired by Bibi Cameron.  All I can say is, “Wow!” after perusing her blog here.

If you’d like to join the challenge too, here’s the link.

Inspired by all I saw there, this card was created…

and a close up

She has some beautiful samples and I’d encourage you to check out her blog.

This card was made yesterday when I didn’t know there would be a beautiful rose arrangement waiting for me on the breakfast table this morning!  Today is mine and Sweetums’ 50th wedding anniversary!  How did that even happen?  The rose in the top pic is one from the arrangement…

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you on this card…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White and Calypso Coral Cardstock, plus water color paper.
  • Ink:  Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight
  • Stamps:  Birthday Blooms and En Francais (retired background)
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Zig Clean Color Real Brush Green, Lt. Green, Yellow, Carmine Red, Pink & Black, Low Tack Masking Tape, Small Tipped Aqua Painter, MISTI

Digits

  • Cut the Thick Whisper White Cardstock 4-1/4″ x 11″ and score, fold and burnish at 5-1/2″
  • Cut Calypso Coral layer 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ and attach to card front with SNAIL
  • Cut water color paper 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Put water color paper in MISTI and place rose stamp on card front and press with cover.  Ink just the leaves of the stamp with Lt. Green.  Color leaves in with Aqua Painter.  Heat dry.  Ink just leaves with darker green and stamp.  Use Aqua Painter to move color.  Heat dry.  Restamp leaves with darker green for distinct outlines.  Clean stamp.  Ink just blooms with yellow and stamp.  Move color with Aqua Painter leaving a few areas uncolored.  Ink blooms with pink and stamp.  Move color with Aqua Painter holding out uncolored areas.  Repeat with Carmine Red.  Heat dry.
  • Apply low tack tape around flower letting parts stay outside masked area.  Sponge lightly with Daffodil Delight and then just edges (not flower) with Soft Suede.  Stamp Soft Suede on acrylic block and use Aqua Painter to thin slightly.  Add to brush and add splats to card front.  I tried to keep mine inside the masked area…didn’t happen!  Heat dry.
  • Apply Soft Suede to background script stamp and stamp three places inside masking.
  • Remove the masking…do your Happy dance!  Then position the sentiment on the card front inside the MISTI and stamp with Soft Suede as many times as needed to get a clean image.
  • Add water color piece to card front with multipurpose glue.
  • Mask a small area inside the card and create just the background from the front of the card.  Maybe treat the envelope the same way…

Sweetums and I will be celebrating this evening with a nice dinner out…

Have an awesome weekend…see you on Monday!

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

seriously.

I’m still inky…and HaPpY!

  4. First, congrats again on your 50th anniversary!! Special occasions come and go too quickly and you can never receive enough accolades for being together 50 years!! I love your wedding picture. What a lovely couple you made and still do. This is a beautiful card, Billie. I love the colors and the block of French script behind which gives a nice texture and background to the lovely flower. Colored beautifully as always. I was looking through your Stuff to see what color stamps you used and then I saw where you had used the Zig Brush Markers. You definitely have a lighter hand with them than I do. I need more practice. The “b-ism” is perfect for today!

I hope you are enjoying your delicious dinner out tonight with your handsome husband. ;-))))

    • My most faithful reader! Thank you Hilda…your sweet words touch my heart. I agree special occasions need to be recognized and enjoyed to the fullest. Our dinner was amazing…friends surprised us with champagne at the table. We spent time looking through our wedding album and a scrap book I had kept when we got home laughing at funny things that happened and shedding tears for those we’ve lost since then.
Maybe I should do a video on how I use the Zig Markers. I love the vibrant color that can be achieved with them. I do use water color paper and an Aqua Painter (never use markers direct to paper)…B!

    • I’m so glad you have a wonderful evening. You have thoughtful friends to have a bottle of champagne sent to your table. A video of how you use the Zig markers would be great. I’ll have to try them using the Aqua Painter. I do love the brilliant colors they have. Have a super Sunday!

    • Why thank you Tonya…I love this stamp set and was inspired with this technique by Bibi Cameron. I’m so glad you like it!…B!

  5. Happy Anniversary Billie! What a beautiful bride and lovely couple…I just love peeking into your world via your blog. Love that gorgeous card, too. Thank you for sharing!

  6. I saw your gorgeous card on one of the FB groups to which we both belong. I am working on a card right now with the same stamp set. I would say it is one of my top five favorites. When I saw your card I just had to come to see the deets ☺

I am so happy I came to see your card…otherwise, I would have missed the opportunity to wish you and your husband of 50 years a happy anniversary. Your wedding picture is just beautiful! How nice that you had roses this morning and champagne with dinner. It sounds like your day was celebrated well. Congratulations! May you enjoy many more happy years together!

    • Well…aren’t you just the sweetest Marianne…I’m so glad you decided to follow that post to my blog too. I hope you stop by often and always find inspiration! Sweetums and I had the best anniversary ever and hope for many more to come…thanks for stopping by today!…B!

  7. Gorgeous card, Billie! I will have to try your technique. Happy 50th anniversary! What a blessing to have your Sweetums.

    • Hey Kathy…thanks for stopping by today and I’m so glad you are going to give this technique a try. Sweetums is a blessing each and every day!…B!

  8. WOW! Congrats on your 50th anniversary. I’d call that a modern miracle.
Beautiful card. One question: did you mask the flower and leaves when you applied the background?

    • Thanks so much Michelle for your anniversary wishes. It is somewhat unusual these days for sure. Yes, I did mask the rose while working on the background…B!
