Another Happy Mistake…

If it was mandatory to pick one and only one stamp set from the new Holiday Catalog, it would be so hard.  There are so many great stamp sets in there.  However, the one posted here today would take my top spot… IMG_1391 Do you recognize it from just this one stamp?  It’s the Ornamental Pine set with just seven stamps…but it is oh so versatile.  Here is the whole card… IMG_1388 Can you spot the mistake?  Originally thought I’d off stamp the pine bough a couple more times and then decided to make a “clean” card.  Then having seen several watercoloring techniques where you stamp an image after spritzing with water so you get a blurry image, waiting for it to dry and stamping over the blurry image with a clean stamped image, thought it would be fun to try that without the water.  So the pine cones were inked up with Expresso and smudged (is that a word?) by moving the stamp back and forth to create a blurry image.  Then re-ink the stamp in Expresso again and stamped over the first image.  You need to try this mistake…it gives you a really interesting image!

This card is all wrapped up for Christmas with the gorgeous Cherry Cobbler 1″ Sheer Ribbon.  You can’t make an ugly bow with this ribbon.  The Dazzling Diamonds does give some bling and shimmer to the pine cones, but maybe the white gel pen would give it the look of snow.  That will have to wait til next time.  Maybe you are inspired to give this card a try and you’ll use the white gel pen.  Let me know how that works out if you do.  Here are the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff:

  • Paper:  Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler cardstock
  • Ink:  Mellow Moss, Expresso and Cherry Cobbler
  • Stamps:  Ornamental Pine
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Cherry Cobbler 1″ Sheer Ribbon, Linen Thread, Dazzling Diamonds and Crystal Effects

Digits:

  • The Cherry Cobbler base card is 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • The Very Vanilla layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
  • The ornament and pine cones are “fussy cut”.  The ornament was glazed with Crystal Effects

Do this card inspire you to use this stamp set?  I’m sure you will create something beautiful with it.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…”I will neither grow up nor grow old, I will just age disgracefully with a smile.”

Hope you are enjoying this Labor Day weekend to the fullest and your fingers are inky too…but I’m HaPpY!
