A Tearful Goodbye…

My daughter, Kelly,  and son-in-love, Jay,  are being transferred to Seoul, South Korea, and are leaving on Saturday.  So Sweetums and I drove to Baltimore this week to spend a couple of days with them and say goodbye.

It’s all so bittersweet.  I’m excited for them to experience a new culture and adventures, but selfishly it’s so hard to see them go.  I gave her two journals to keep so she can remember everything (good and bad) about this experience and I hope she will keep faithful in her entries.

But you know I had to make her something with Stampin’ Up!  Here’s what I gave her…

It’s one of the wood mount cases.  Here’s the inside…

Some monogrammed notecards, a flower pen and pad and inside the envelope?….STAMPS!

I really enjoyed putting this little surprise together for her.

The pads I had cut down a while ago at Staples so they would fit inside this case.  The pen instructions were given earlier this week, the envelope was made with the envelope board and the monogram notecards were stamped with the Sophisticated Serifs set.  All of the paper used was from the FREE product “Best Year Ever” designer series paper.  Love how Stampin’ Up coordinates their DSP.

The drive home with be loooonnnnggg and I hope we will here from them when they arrive.  They are traveling with a dog and cat on the plane.  Talk about an adventure.

Wonder what a ticket from Tennessee to South Korea costs?

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

You have an awesome day!

I’ll get my fingers inky…and Be HaPpY!

  1. Hi Billie…I can only imagine how torn you must be feeling as you say goodbye to your daughter and her husband. I will keep them in my prayers and I wish them a great journey and a safe return home.

    Affectionately, Barbara.

P.S. I love the journal and the card that you made .

    • Thank you Barbara…for the most part we had a great visit. Lots of coffee and just visiting. But the leaving was tearful. Even today I’m weepy just thinking where she is and what are they doing. It will get better I know. Thanks for your sweet comment…B

    • I can see you read this after midnight…no sleep again? Thinking of you every minute today. Safe travels…<3!

  2. What a great idea! And just beautiful, the way you put it all together! I’m going to use it as a gift for new grads. Especially like the envelope for stamps!

Thanks for the idea & wishing Kelly & Jay a wonderful experience!

  3. Hi, I think this is beautiful, and I wondered if there are any directions or tutorials for it. Also can you tell me the name of the trim with the pompoms on it? I think its adorable. Good luck to your family on their new adventure
and I hope you get to see them soon.

    • Hey Regina…thanks so much for your comment. The Pom Pom Trim is in the Stampin’ Up! Occasion Catalog on page 12, Calypso Coral Pompom Trim. It should be available until the end of May…B
