A Rose Is A Rose…

The sentiment was purposely left off until I’m ready to send this card.  There are so many different occasions this card would fit so I’ll add the sentiment when I’m ready to send it.

The Wink of Stella may not photograph well, but it sure does look stunning in person.  I’ve used both the clear on the rose and the gold on the leaves…you know, you can never have too much bling!  So I added the gold embossed splatters too!

Here’s the Stuff ‘N Digits for you…

Stuff

  • Paper:  Thick Whisper White and Bermuda Bay cardstock plus Watercolor paper and Gold Foil
  • Ink:  Pear Pizazz, Mossy Meadow, Soft Sky, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay
  • Stamps:  None!
  • Tools ‘N Embellishments:  Rose Garden Thinlets Dies, Wink of Stella Clear and Gold, Gold Embossing Powder, Aqua Painter and VersaMark Ink

Digits

  • The Thick Whisper White base card is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″
  • The Bermuda Bay layer is 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ attached to the card front with adhesive.
  • The Watercolor layer is 5 1/4″ x 4″.  Cut the larger of the two rose dies from Gold Foil.  Add dots of multipurpose glue on the back of the flower cutout or use the Fine Tip Glue Pen.  In either case use the glue sparingly so that it doesn’t spread into the petal areas of the rose.
  • Use your Aqua Painter with water to wet a few petals at a time.  Then add drops of the lightest color first into the damp areas.  Let the ink and paper do it’s magic before adding the next darker color.  Try to start light.  You can always add more water or color.  Treat the leaves in the same way.
  • Use the splatters from Timeless Textures with VersaMark Ink in a couple of areas depending which direction your rose is placed (portrait or landscape) then add Gold Embossing Powder and heat.
  • Now paint Wink of Stella clear over the petals and gold over the leaves.  Oh so pretty!

Here in Tennessee we are experiencing some of the coldest weather so far this winter with temps in the teens and ice/snow expected during the night tonight.  Oh what fun!  Times like these are when I’m so thankful to be retired and not have to worry about getting to work or kids to school.

Here’s your “B-ism” for today…

  1. Love, love, love this card, Billie. The colors are so pretty and your coloring is great. The gold die makes the card pop. Your “b-ism” today is funny, but true. We’re having extremely cold temps here along the East Coast and expect some snow Friday and Saturday, which is not my favorite weather forecast.

    • Thank you HJ…seriously, you should see me when I walk through a spider web! We are also experiencing (Tennessee) mostly a sleet/ice storm. All schools are closed and I’m pretty sure it will be the same in the morning. Good for stamping though!…B!

    • Exactly, Cheryl. I have witnessed others doing this and thought it was hysterical until the same thing happened to me!…B!

  2. Really like the card. I totally understand what you’re saying about being retired. I’m there too. Nasty weather also makes more time to stamp.

    • You are so right about the bad weather creating a great stamping/studio day. I’m always happy when I’m in my studio!…B!
